Aim
To make floor mats that fit your car.

Required
Scissors
Newspaper
Tape
Texta/Marker
Carpet - bought this from Bunnings. $18.95 for 1x1m or $32.95 for 2x1m

How-to
This was done in a 97 Honda Prelude. It will work for any car.

Step 1
Get your newspaper and tape it up if you need to, to form 1 larger piece of paper. Lay it out on the floor. Sorry for camera quality, something played up.

Step 2
Trace out the template for your carmats.

Step 3
Make sure you label which floormat goes where.
FR- Front right
FL- Front left
RR- Rear right
RL - Rear left

Step 4

Step 5
Test fit your templates.

Correct any flaws in your templates such as below.

Step 6
Place the template on the back of your carpet. Make sure that the template is turned around so that you see the mirrored version of your template. Trace the template.

Step 7
Cut out your template and you're done! Now you have mats that fit perfectly to your car.

Other comments
The edges do look a bit "cut out". I am looking into options to sew in some lining to finish off the look. As I do not have a sewing machine the task now is to find a shop that will do it.

they dont make floormats for my car anymore. Maybe i might do this. Would be better with a trim around the edge, and any embroidery place can add in a logo.

Hi BlitZ, the carpets costed $32.95 in total for the 2x1m carpet. Depends on the size of your car's floor. Perhaps you can squeeze in the 1x1m carpet for $18.95. These are just Bunning's prices so maybe other places might sell carpet cheaper.
