sounds like its runnign rich, what type of warranty do you have. Im sure they will find a way to worm there way out of it if its a used car warranty.

*agrees with ECUMAN*

What amount of "black smoke" is it ?
Does it come under any amount of throttle...or only under heavy acceleration/hi rpms ?

Before throwing money at the problem...

TRY this !!! *click here for DIY ECU check!* (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8218)

Then come back to us with a ECU code and take it from there :)

Try adding one of those additive that help get rid of smoke... you add it to your petrol when you top up. Might be that the fuel is not clean.

do Bens DYI ECU check, if your O2 sensor is failing it would cause yor engine to run rich, the O2 wouldnt be your problem if it does it at high revs only. also if your air cleaner is blocked you would run rich. your not driving round with you check engine light on are you???

engines run rich for a few reasons, Im not saying your exhaust isnt the problem But Iv never seen a blocked CAT cause engine running rich. the richness ocuurs in the combustion chamber. usually two reasons, to much fuel being pummed into the mixture coz of some PGMFI problem or Not enough air getting to the cylinder due to blockage of the intake, usually air cleaner element. check your ecu for codes like Ben said and also check your air cleaner. let us know what you find.

Take it to a dyno, sounds like your running rich.

no but that tends to happen to you if you take you cat off. i'll assume it's still on, if so you must be running very rich.
