Objective:
To mount cams approved 1kg fire ext with cams approved metal bracket w/ steel strap inside an EG/DC2 within reach of the driver in event of a fire as required by the current cams regulations as of 2008. And doing so without drilling holes into the car's body/floorpan with ease of removal during events or using the setup in another car of the same type.
Parts List:
Mild steel bar 2.5mm thick by 31.5mm wide and 460mm length.
Fasteners ie nuts and bolts to fix bracket onto steel bar.
Fire ext with steel bracket 1kg from fire outlets.
Tasks Description:
I got given my piece of steel off my fren Graeme of the Perth CRX forum; he bought the whole length ( 3M lengths? ) at Bunnings and he bought it originally to mount the same in his ED9 CRX.

The spacing between the 2 larger holes for the seat rail front bolts to go thru is 430mm on my car, I've made the holes slightly larger than nec so it gives me a bit of room to move if the measurements or drilling wasnt spot on.
Once I've trial fitted the bar and marked the position of the fire ext bracket so it wont foul the seat fore-aft adjuster I then drilled the 2 small holes for the bracket's attachment to the steel bar. Only then I gave the steel bar a good clean to rid of surface rust and grime prior to paint with black enamel spray.
As the bar sits pretty close to the floor reo bar on the floorpan between the seat rail bolts, it's a good idea to cut off the ext bracket bolt just past the nut. I'll be using an angle grinder to do that soon.

with nozzle facing door for ease of inspection of service tag to be checked by scrutineers at CAMS sanctioned events.

Clears the adjuster by 10mm or so, oh yeah.....:)
It's quite forunate that with this setup with SR3 seats the seat clears the fire ext at almost full range of fore-aft travel, not sure if this is the case with factory and non SR3 seats

I'll be doing another bracket for the driver's seat which would be a mirror image of this setup, so if I need a total 2kg fire ext setup for touring road events as required by CAMS down the track it's there ready to go; and prior to that it will stay in our dc2r so I wont need to keep bolting and unbolting the fire ext between cars between events.
