just wondering if ricer-blue silicone is safe to use to connect the coolant tank to radiator? it reckons you shouldn't use it for fluid but the oem black tube appears to be made of a similar material?

i think the oem is made of rubber, silicone suppose to last longer, provides more tolerance to heat before it starts to crack, swell, or harden.

Silicone rubber tubing is fine. It is build quality of the cheap ricer brands that you have to worry about.

mmm but its only cheap silicone tube, rather than the hardcore silicon shit with like samco hoses and stuff. i think ill replace it now and if it breaks all that will happen is coolant will spill. not a biggie

If it is happen while you are driving and loosing coolant... engine will over heat.. it will be a biggie if you are on the country road. :)

check to see if the silicone hose you're using is compatible/recommended for use with radiator/coolant fluids it should be fine.

Give it a few days and keep checking it.

Things to look for would be to make sure its not perishing or melting and is not leaking (fluid or air). If the hose has a hole in it - the coolant won't be able to be sucked back into the radiator when needed.

If it starts the melt or perish - replace it immediately as the car may overheat.

yeah its definately allowing fluid through, its hot after the car has been running. no signs of perishing yet (Y)

it'll be fine mate, i replaced mine with the blue silicon hose, no problems since. It has been like that for over a year now.
