Hi guys just finished my suspension for my euro, am very happy with the results :)

Now it's time to divert my attention to another very important part of my car, the 'intake'.

I thought I'de get some ideas and opinions from you guys as I would like to hear from personal experiences.....

To say I have a limit on funds for this I won't cause I went over my budget for my suspension mods lol. There is alot to choose from in intakes and they all claim their product to be superior to others.

I have to keep into consideration that I want my car to remain 'stealth' so a quiet system would be the go.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated ;)

Hey I have the Jtune intake with reflash, sounds good  It is quiet when driving normal but has an awesome sound when you're up it.

You got mild flash like me or the full extremage? You happy with it?

Dont confuse Best with LOUDEST or "product that contains the most pissed off elephants giving the impression of power but really just rice intak e"

Just the mild flash like you :D I am very happy with it and the intake. Don't have headers yet, still holding out on the Jtune extreme...
Second resort I'm thinking Toda or Comptech.

Very true so from your experience which intake you think best for 'stealth' and 'gain' considering very minor gain that is.

So is the intake loud ?

imo you should get a cold air intake like the injen or fujita cause if youre driving it normally its stealth n when u want it to sing like michael jackson just step on the pedal hard. i dont think the intake really does anything for your car if youre not going to tune the car so yeh getting an icebox or something would just be a waste as you wont notice anything at all.

if u are to remain stealth it really is left with 2 options given all others are pods.
Mugen or comptech.
and from these 2, mugen hands down.....

True. Driving to work and back the intake sound is quite, comparable to stock. However when driving more aggressively the induction sound is louder compared to the Mugen and Comptech icebox.

id go comptech ice box with K&N filter, relatively cheap no low end torque loss good filtration and reduced risk of hydrolock.

^ as above, comptech icebox. Very nice and quiet! i have it on the car but sometimes would like it to be a bit louder :(
nonetheless, very happy with the product. Think its the way to go if ur after stealth and a product that isnt gonna cost much.

haha yer if your looking for stealh id go for comptech too probs best bet for cost/pefermance wise comapred to the expensiver ones.
in saying that i will say that with my j's racing intake, its got good response and doesnt lose low end due to short ram style haha but thats only saying with the knowlege of my own car lol.
after the meet thats comin up i can give a better report haha =P
oh yer and for noise its not loud (quiet as stock) on part throttle and normal driving, unless u got a heavy foot haha but yer the loudness is controllable, but i think the other intakes are the same so yer, but it does sure sound damn good when you are on wot =D

POWER.....YES, looking for performance now.

I'm going to do it 1 stage at a time starting with the intake cause I blew my budget on the suspension..I can't really do it all at once cause my mrs gonna make me sleep in the car ;)

K&N or Injen CAI.
Makes great power, and can convert from CAI to SRI as well.
Both use K&N airfilters. Both are quality.

I couldn't notice any loss what so ever with the K&N on the CL9. I could notice the gains however higher in the rev range. :)

They always exaggerate the gains you get from these sorts of products.I doubt you'd get the gains they're quoting.

I'd pick one based on sound. Loudest would be the GruppeM or J's Racing, I reckon.
Best response would be one of the SRI's or Comptech icebox.

What's the difference btw comptech, gruppem, j's racing they all look the same setup all state significant gains.

Best option if you want stealth is the icebox. I also think the icebox is more appropriate for the automatic model.

groupeM and j's racing get higher gains than comptech... but cost 10x the price... lol

i cant wait to find out how my custom intake sounds.... mmmmm :D

Comptech is an enlarged airbox with an airhorn. The GruppeM and J's racing are SRIs with a CF/FRP enclosure.

Not if you are price conscious. I can't see myself putting down over 1k for an intake. I'd rather the Toda headers.

true to that.
just use your stock box with K&N panel filter + 100mm aluminium CAI air piping, and DIY carbon fibre vinyl stickers on the box.

GruppeM Pros:
Pod filter is enclosed in carbon fibre = street legal

GruppeM Cons:
damn expensive

Injen Pros:
not that expensive

Injen Cons:
Pod filter not enclosed = Illegal

Ok well I've done some searching on intakes now and I think I'll stick too the boxed up intakes, as CAI loss of power down low....need power right through the range.

Some prices :-

Mugen - $1050

Gruppem - $940

J's racing - $790 assuming it's not the carbon fibre casing, carbon fibre $1050

comptech icebox - $246 'cheap and nasty'

If anyone can get any cheaper would appreciate a heads up.....as I am still shopping around

*ALL PRICES INCLUDE DELIVERY TO MELBOURNE METRO

Between the Mugen and the Comptech, which are similar except that the mugen has an air deflector to direct air from the front of the bumper into the intake, I'd choose the Comptech because of the value.

I know that some of you may have a little dislike for Jtune. However as I motioned before, I have the Intake and the Reflash and there is no power loss down low. Torque and power feels as though there is a marginal improvement over stock below 3000rpm,above that there's noticeable improvements in torque.
