Hey guys, just saw this on another site & I'm not sure if its been done before on here...contemplate 3 similar-spec'ed Civics all with around 200 horses with appplications implementing all-motor, supercharged and turbo...how would they fare against each other on the track & on the quarter...torque would be relative to the application involved...

Some considerations to ponder...
1. The N/A would no doubt have the least torque amongst them so would this permit it to have a better take-off than the other two due to less wheelspin?
2. Would the supercharged Civic have the best low-down torque?
3. Would lag prove to be a hurdle for the turbo Civic?
4. The powerband wouldn't be as broad in an all-motor so could this hinder its outcome?
5. The track could prove to be the all-motor's best chance to win but in a straight line the other two would have the advantage?

Obviously variables such as driver ability & traction may necessitate discussion but we'll reflect on those later...this is moreso a query on application...welcoming all opinions & views...

Your talking about 200horses, what wheelspin? the turbo will own the other 2 and spank them back to the gay mardi gras in sydney

2. Would the supercharged Civic have the best low-down torque?

when u say low down what area of rpm do u mean? if ur talking about 1k rpms then fair enough if ur taklking about 2000 rpms teh turbo will murder them both (considering taht its only 200horses reltative turbo sizing)

3. Would lag prove to be a hurdle for the turbo Civic?

if 500 rpms of lag is that huge a hrudle for a 200hp car, then u launch like my lil cousin does on the tricycle with pink handlebars and streamers (poweredbyhonda is that cousin)

4. The powerband wouldn't be as broad in an all-motor so could this hinder its outcome?

at 200hp, the na car's only advantage is the petrol consumtion and the throttle response, as the BSFC is lower than the other 2

5. The track could prove to be the all-motor's best chance to win but in a straight line the other two would have the advantage?

at 200hp the all motor advantage is taking grandma to the bakery for freshly baked cookies and milk. On the track the other 2 cars will maul him, cirucit, drag, traffic light

Obviously variables such as driver ability & traction may necessitate discussion but we'll reflect on those later...this is moreso a query on application...welcoming all opinions & views...

Gay N/A boys stand no chance for FI. What's the deal with N/A? NA= Need Anal.

You will find if you do some searching on the forums, this topic has been discussed a many times.

It comes down to driver preference, and what floats your boat.

Heres the link to the Search Feature (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/search.php?)

200 turbo hp does not equal 200 na wheel hp

Dare I say you are making reference to the massive difference in torque......

So you think 350 ponies in a boosted CRX is adequate to keep up with some cars then hehe...

2. Would the supercharged Civic have the best low-down torque?

Depends, a positive displacement style supercharger would, as they make a lot of boost low down due to their design. But would make less power in the top end. More suited to commuting than racing.

If a centrifugal supercharger is used, it's a completely different matter. The supercharged and turbocharged cars would be very similar as far as low down torque is concerned.

3. Would lag prove to be a hurdle for the turbo Civic?

Not if the turbo is correctly matched to the engine. It the turbo is selected to make around 200hp, this would be a small to medium sized turbo, so lag wouldn't be an issue. I'd say torque steer would be more of a hurdle.

It's really too much of an open ended question. It would be best answered by building three cars and comparing them.

check out the allmotor and fi sections of honda-tech. allmotor guys are pulling similar times to turbo guys with ~100hp at the wheels less.

don't know why it pans out like that- it just does.
either boys with turbos don't know how to drive, or there is alot more to the story than power output and all this theorising would suggest.

yea...the same old topic...Turbo vs NA...Just drop this kind of topic already dude...you're just comparing different classes of cars and engine...and if people think's that they are fast, just be it...but don't be over confident when you're on the track...you think you're faster, but surely there are people much faster than you...and May b it's in an N/A as well...
