Hey guys, I need to find a place to mount my 2.5kg (1.0kg powder) extinguisher in my car before I track it in order not to leave permanent holes.

I'm thinking I'll make a bracket say 2-4 mm thick steel and use the two bolt locations at the front of he passenger seat rails.

Any other ideas?

Cheers

I think your idea is a good one. I am not sure how seat rail bolts are set up on a dc2 but you should be able to fab something up fairly easily.

Here is mine in a dc5:

Ahh not my invention sadly :p. I got my bracket from a fellow at the Honda Sports Car Club of Vic who makes them. All I had to do was drill holes and bolt the extinguisher to it. It is made out of 3-4mm aluminium.

It clears the seat slider fine and I can even still fit in my floor mat.

Yeah that's the idea, I'll try and use less metal but the same basic design. I'll post up pics when it's done.

I mounted mine to the floor in front of the drivers seat. Make sure you measure so it doesn't interfere with your legs as well.

One important thing to note about fire extinguishers, you have to mount them within easy reach - No point having them behind the seat, or in the passenger's section where you have to stretch and reach for it. IMO, the main purpose of the extinguisher is to put out any fires around or on you so you can get out of the car safely and minimise damage to yourself.
