Is there such a big difference in

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=310078580300&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=021

and

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JDM-Rays-Duraluminium-BLU-wheel-nuts-VolkRacing-M12x1-5_W0QQitemZ320251339136QQihZ011QQcategoryZ43807QQt cZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I know that you get what you pay for, however i'm sure the cheap ones aren't gonna be unsafe while driving?

I've just purchased the cheap ebay ones for $23 posted...

Yeah there is a big difference - the rays ones are very light and Japanese.

I used to have the Rays ones but even those were not as good as McGard spline drive (available online from the USA. They are very hard to scratch and more secure than the Rays ones - and cheaper).

Did you buy from that listing the cheap red wheel nuts? Because that listing is only for 16 nuts and you need 20 for the Euro!!!!

I also hope you are not using those tuner style nuts on the stock rims.

anyone interested in taking them off my hands.. ? lol

tuner style nuts.. ? what do you mean.. ? i don't have stock rims.. i'm using whatever came with my car..

$200 for wheel nuts is rediculous which ever way you look at it.
I'd definately go for the $23 ones.

Yeah wheel nuts are not as simple as they look.... you need the right ones to suit your rims

Invest in the Mcgard spline drives - they are worth it - better than Rays at half the price

As mr yfin has said, you need the suitable lugnuts for your car.
This will include thread and pattern size.
Euro requires 20 nuts.

So your looking at 5x114.3 20off M12x1.5 and depending on your wheel design you either choose ACORN (stock nut style rounded bottom) or TAPERED (Racing styled Triangulared bottom).

I got mine on ebay but that seller doesn't look like they are a user anymore. I found these ones though - but they are black (same colour I had). I gather you are after red. This seller may be able to get red for you as they have other McGard items. Make sure you get the 4 x locking nuts as described in the link below - in red of course.

thanks yfin..

i'm after red or blue.....

i'm either going to:

contact the seller to see if he can send out an extra 4 (doubt it).. or purchase another 16...

or

There's also another blue set going for a total of $50.. so may just get another one..

or

Just use 4 red ones and have one normal one. Depends how funny it looks.. lol

Just be aware that the colour on those cheap wheel nuts will come off when removing the nuts with a tool. That will not happen with the mcgard nuts.

not just the colour... i had cheap ebay ones, the paint came off easy but then they also rusted quick!

but yeah, actually paying $200 for a set of aftermarket nuts are good... they look good, are quality and do not chip or rust as easy. plus if u get a different brand from the majority (Volk, BuddyClub, etc) you'll get a different locknut that not every second car has a key for.

No matter what brand whether the top range e.g volk/5zigen/rays or crappy dodgy stuff made in china, all colours will most likely chip/scratch off with the use of hand tools, unless you can use a rubber socket, however being provided the socket that can be used with the locknuts there will always be scraps/chips on the colour.

yeah.. i know.. u get what you pay for.. and that's why i don't really care if they waste away.. it's only $23....

With that comment you have obviously never used the Mcgard spline drive nuts.

Has anyone here put aftermarket lock nuts on their stock wheels? Will they fit?

I remember that on my Corolla, my aftermarket nuts did not fit my stock wheels when I had to put my spare wheel on.

The majority of them will not fit as they have a tapered mating surface - you need nuts with a ball mating surface, i believe Honda sells them for $~70-80 a set a member was saying.

So aren't there any aftermarket nuts that have a ball mating surface?

I haven't come across any that do...but if its lock nuts you're after, as i said above you can get them from Honda. Wheel nuts themselves can be purchased in the normal "chrome" colour from any car store/tyre and wheel place, and will cost like $2 each.

If you want coloured nuts and stuff i'm not sure where you would go to find ball mating surface ones.
