Hi, just wanted to find out how much you guys paid for your 80,000 kms service. I recently went to Eastern Honda (Doncaster) just to get my brakes checked, and they noticed that my car is nearly due for a service. The service guy said that they will need to clean the valves? Is that correct?
Another thing is my disc brakes also need some machining, which they are charging me $70 each for back and front. Is that a reasonable price? Thanks!

check for valve clearance you mean

this needs to be done every 40,000km

machining brake rotors at a regular shop costs maybe $40 or $50. so $70 at a honda dealership is not bad

a good independent should charge about $400-500 for the 40k services (this includes the 80k)

Was all of yours serviced at a Honda dealership? Around $500 is reasonable for a major service, but if Eastern Honda services the car, im pretty confident it will be around the $1000 mark. When i was up there on saturday, the lady in front of me was charged $600+ for her regular service which was fuel filter, oil filter and engine oil plus all the inspections they do eg. rotating tyres, inspecting brake lights etc. Being a major service and since i just purchased the car 2 months ago, i might as well take it to Honda but just wanted to know how much damage to expect.

well i did mention an independent. a stealership will charge about $1k. at 80k km, the car should be almost out of warranty anyway

Yep that's him...I know what you mean, I'm in Camberwell and always take my car to Carl! He has good prices, loan cars and he loves and races Hondas as well, so he can help you out if you're thinking of tracking your car!

Hi EP_KING, I think I saw your car at eastern honda last week. I went to get myself some tranny/diff fluid, washers. Jason is very helpful for parts enquiry but the labour is damn expensive. I was quoted over $100 for drain/fill of the diff/tranny fluids (excluding parts(fluids)).

Hi rly1, yeah i was at eastern honda on saturday arvo. Went to test drive the new euro. I was there with my mate who drives the white dc5R. Yeah, their labour is really expensive. Asked for a quote on new clutch, they quoted me $1700!
