My dad had an accident on Saturday morning and the front is light damaged but for some reason the CD player won't read CDs no more. It comes up with an "ERROR" message. I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

The CD mechanism (probably the fragile lens) may have broken or misaligned.

Time for a new Head Unit

The SRS system detected a pot hole and self destructed the CD player lol

most likely your lens has been damaged.

How much you want for it? Where abouts are you? I'm in Northern Melbourne.

Another thing I'd like to know is that.. would insurance cover this? Because like.. right after the accident is when the actual CD player stopped working. The radio still works but the CD player doesn't.

I'm gonna go try and reset the system now.

And also.. when I have my keys in without it on.. the CD player makes some kind of noise that it's reading the CD. Hope that helps.

Thanks.

I got a sound system installed, would that void the warranty?

well as long as you didn't splice your HU wiring then it should be fine.

any modification causing damage (splicing of wires) to the factory supplied unit would be void.

depending on whether that caused it though, installing new system that is....

Jamming disc should be a different thing altogether regardless of different sound system, although they can say warranty void if they want, depends on your relationship with the dealer and how good they are.

Does it have the motor sound trying to change disk but nothing comes out?
If so there is possibly the chance that your motor has jammed up--> happened to me.
If no sound, but they don't read or eject then it could be damaged lens.

Use HA warranty if you've still got it, i got my unit replaced ages ago.

And they will try and flog you off with saying using burnt cds is not covered by honda.

happned to me about a year ago. I hit a deep pot hole in the ground and the damn thing just stopped working and pulled up a ERR msg. went to honda they said the motor is jammed or somehing along those lines and they will replace the head unit with a reco one for about 380 bucks. Funny thing is 2 days b4 I was booked to get it done I hit yet another deep pot hole and the thing started working agina on it own ! after 6 weeks of it not working ! so maybe something was jammed and the jolt unjammed it again... who knows !

My one makes the sound like something is about to load up.. I've given it to Gary's Car Audio to repair through insurance and they can't fix it (after 3 weeks)..
Crapadaz... what did you do with yours?

I was gonna try to get a xcarlink... hopefully it would remove the use of using the cd unit

My CD player has just begun to refuse to play. It also shows ERR message even with a genuine CD (not a burnt one) I haven’t driven into any pot holes nor do I have any modifications to the sound system. What are the HEAD CLEANERS ? is it just a special CD which cleans the lens? and do they work?
