Hi guys,

I have a DC2 Type R.

I'm looking to do some upgrading in relation to the intake system; Mugen intake, Skunk2 throttle body and Skunk2 Intake Manifold.

I do not know the exact requirements/procedures to this upgrade so would like some input from members who may have more knowledge in this area.

If I purchase a 70mm Skunk2 throttle body, the intake manifold will have to be ported to fit the 70mm throttle body. Correct?

I'm pretty sure a specialist mechanic will have that covered.

What other requirements are there? Fuel rail?

Anyone in Sydney recommend a mechanic who they have dealt with?

Hypothetically speaking.

What would be appropriate for a DC2 Type R that currently has headers and exhaust, flywheel.

On a stock OEM engine, just get the Mugen intake and be happy.

Skunk 2 throttle body and intake manifold will not make a noticeable difference. I would spend my money elsewhere.

The OEM DC2 Type R intake manifold is awesome and very hard to improve on.

^^^:thumbsup::thumbsup:

you may have to search a bit in the technical or all motor section as others have already gone this route but i'm pretty sure 70mm is overkill and MAY affect idle.. can't remember... some of the best all motor setups and projects i've read about on here and elsewhere don't even use 70mm until the big camshaft builds...

but to keep it stock looking just upgrade the pod inside the stock airbox to a foam spoon one or something

skunk2 manifold and 70mm throttle body will be a waste on a stock motor. 65mm throttle on stock ITR intake manfiold, CAI (injen, AEM, fujita and etc) will work well.

Trying looking into some Buddy club spec 3's or Toda A cams. They tend to work very on stock b18c7 motors.

Don't bother with Skunk 2 IM, and throttle body.
Just get the Mugen intake, and spend the money on something worth while.

What would be a good option upgrade after the intake goes in?
Like fatboyz39 has said? Cams? How much am I looking at that?
Any other specific requirements for this modification?
Of course a tune will be required afterwards.

I have seen cases where just adding a Mugen intake, makes the stock car run very lean, and then you get quite a bit of knock/ping.

If you haven't already done a cat back / headers, i'd recommend you do them all at the same time as the mugen intake.

Intake mods with out Exhaust mods doesn't work too well. Don't even worry about the IM, stock ITR IM is fine! Throttle body is good, but do that after exhaust and intake.

Cams would be good, but there is alot more you can do bolt-on wise before you crack open the engine. If you are going to track your car, or drive it hard... work on braking, and suspension, and chassis bracing.
