hey all.. was just wondering.. since vtec turns off when we need more power.. on the r18 engine.. is it possible to just cut the vtec off over all? so we will have more power all the time?
would this be similar to hondata on the k or b series engine? they make vtec turn on at lower revs.. =))

huh ? VTEC makes power. You can disconnect your vtec solenoid and run the engine without VTEC. (on b series not sure of latter honda engines) and it will be slower.
Hondata and other ECU's rarely change the VTEC crossover , only change the maps below and above etc

On the r18 its always running vtec, the cam it engages is the economy cam to save you fuel whilst cruising at around 2-3000 rpm

On the R18A, it is in 12-valve mode when vtec is off (locking pin is not engaged). The 2nd intake valve rides on the intake cam which has almost no lobe. When vtec is engaged, the locking pin is engaged and the 2nd intake valve rides on the lobe for the 1st intake cam.
