I did a search but the closest thing I found was this (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1152475&postcount=3). At the moment I have a lot of movement in the gearstick. Have a look at this video:

You can see that even when it's in 3rd gear there's a lot of side to side movement. So I crawled under the car and there's heap of play where the linkage connects to the transmission. Not where the linkage connects to the bracket via a so called "bitch pin" but where that bracket connects to the tranny. See this video:

It appears to be attached via some kind of pin, ie not a bolt that can be unscrewed. There's a picture below:

Does anyone have any advise on how to remove it and reduce the amount of play there?

Should get someone in the car and someone underneath....stick it in gear and move it just to make sure that the problem really is just that area.
Unfortunately i can't help you with the pin sorry.

more than likely , the shift linkage has come out of the rear shift bushing (it holds the balancer shaft by 2 x 12mm headed bolts) Or it can be old/worn. Get under your car - supported by a hoist OR jack stands and get someone from above to move the shifter around and see the culprit.

Thanks for the advise guys, I did get someone to "wobble" the gearstick in third gear while I was under the car so I changed the stabilizer bushing (B) with a polyurethane one and tightened up the rear linkage bolt (A) because there was some movement there.

There was a fair bit of play in the rear linkage bolt and tightening it up did noticeably help a bit. But there's still a lot of overall play, in fact it's so loose that I was just moving the linkage by hand in the first youtube video although it looks like the same thing when someone is "wobbling" the gearstick in gear.

ill ask a dumb obvious question...in the image above did you re install the stabilizer into the bush itself and then install the 2x bolts ? Just checking.....

Fire away any question, anything that might help! I basically just took the old bushing out and popped the poly one in place, ie it's pushed back onto the end of the stabilizer and the d bracket it back on. This pic is a bit blurry but probably illustrates it better.

I figure it's that bracket connects to the transmission because it looks loose, the bracket doesn't fit very snugly. It's moving heaps but the rod that disappears into the boot which goes into the transmission is barely moving at all.

just checking :)
Your shift pin might of came loose or popped out- pull back the boot , there should be a silver C clip. move it around with your fingernail or a flathead screwdriver and there is a hole int eh centre where a aligator clip/split pin resides. Make sure this is still inside and tight
