I've picked up a set of Hasport B-series engine mounts for a gen1 CRX.
It was originally meant to be scrapped but looks like it will be resurrected, and its likely to be only for track - so possible B-rego.
Im thinking what would be the better option for a gen1...
B16A
B18A with B16A Head - known as LS Vtec
B18C
now before everyone says - B18C - im also looking at cost. B18C's are great but they cost a bit of $ and there's not alot of money available, so i'd think B16A or LSVtec swap?
I won't go extremes, LSD etc - thats a huge ask so at the moment im thinking about the minimum and opinions. Mounts are packed away so this isn't anything urgent either.

jeepers! u never cease to amaze me haha!
i think a b16a will go really hard in that lil thing. it should be fairly cheap to do and maybe u can find a half cut with a lsd if your lucky. Also if you get bored of the power later u could source a b18 block and switch them over

hehe... its not a new car if thats what you're thinking - its a car i was going to scrap but managed to get those mounts locally here in Perth and i've had an 'idea' :P
i can get a B16 engine and gbox quiet cheaply here, reuse stock harness and just get another couple wires in to run vtec and other necessary sensors. LSVtec would be nice too.. 1.8L torque with versatility of B16. I'll have to research the B18Bs

b18c vtir jap spec ? much cheaper than b18cr... same as wat IAN has now... ? :P
B18 or B20 would be my choice.
I wouldn't bother with a B16, a worked ZC1 would be about as fast and much easier.

james, but it will cost me more than a couple hundred dollars to work a ZC anyway. The shell has an EW5 in it... so not even a ZC to work with. I think i could pick up a completed motor and gbox for under $500.

when i haz teh cash....
ANYWAY
Good work on the mounts
imo the B20 would be best option but i know you probably wont have enough for that
imo LS swap would be best option :)

power isnt everythng! he wants it 4 a track car, look at hi power racings crx, they only got a b16a and if im not mistaken its a record holder in qld! just whack in a b16a, the usual mods, just focus more on handling and braking for now, then build a b18 block in later if u want to

Yup - i think a simple and clean B16A will be the way to go. :)
RollCage, bigger brakes, Tokico suspension...

Why?
i suppose i could but would need the cable to hydro coversion kit from Hasport.

agreed !!!
I wouldnt bother with the B18C2 (VTiR) as that motor just fails to impress me.
If you cant afford a B18C-R then i'd go with the B16 and modify it.. you have MANY options if you run with that motor.. B18 Block, B20 Block, boost.. anything. yes the B16 has no torque, but with such a light chassis, u dont need the torque so much to make it fast. i'd jsut play with N/A tuning and the gear ratios and suspension and u will have a very fast car. using hasport mounts and a B16 you can actually retain full rego on that car.
if you want, come take my car for a drive and see what the B16 feels like.. my car is just under 1000kgs so u can imagine what my car would be like minus ~250kgs !!

James - once i actually start work on it I will make a build thread. atm its just a chassis in the back yard. *i got my shifter today have you go yours yet?*
