This is happening to my dc2r once i hit vtec all the way to redline.
(this happens after i changed my header and test pipe)(no engine checklight on)
On normal driving it doesnt blow any smoke, but once it hits vtec its just white smoke.
What might be the problem?
1. blown headgasket
2. cracked cylinder
3. running lean

Did it happen before you put the test pipe on? Why are you not running a cat? Is this your track car?

rings, or valve seats are possible. Do a quick leak down and compression check. Are you throwing a code? Did you go hondata obd1 convertion, or did you use a o2 extender?

isnt it normal for smoke to come out once u hit vtec ?? isnt that smoke just the fuel burning ??

since its a new header it could likely be anti-corrosion oils on the inner surface of the header , burning up.

no that is not normal, its never good when a car throws smoke, all fuel should be completely burning and emit non visible CO, not black or white smoke

this has been covered many times before, most cars once engaging vtec blow a lil white smoke,
due to the extra air + fuel?

how much are you talking here, the car might just be running a little bit rich which can cause it. It's not always a problem but in my mind a well tuned car shouldnt be throwing junk out the back

Cars will dump out black smoke which can be attributed to excess fuel. White smoke, i dont think thats normal...

yeah my car leaves a trail of smoke visible in the rear view when i floor it and engage vtec.
:D
can't really watch closely to see what colour it is as i'm watching the road but it's white/grey...

if you can see any colour smoke in the rear view, it's to much. You sound like you have valve seat problems, or burnt rings. Start checking your oil ever 2 days and keep a tab of how much and how often you need to top it off, and as I said before, do a leak down AND compression test.

ok i didmy oil change 2000ks ago, and upon checking, oil is still in the same level.
However, now im noticing something about my car. when i just drive off (fresh new drive in the morning or after parking it for long) , at 2000-3000rpm, it felt jerky asthough sumthing is stuck inside. Im thinking maybe clogged the injectors / fuel filter etc?

I reakon you're running a tad too lean man.
Get some new/larger injectors. RC's are good... get them off Ebay, they are cheap. Then if you don't have a tunable ECU, get a PFC or the likes, and tune away. I had flat spots in my rev range, changed the injectors and fuel pump, and now it's perfect.

NONONONONONONONONONONo, dont just slap some big injectors in it and think it will work! You dont even know whats been done to the car! If it's basically stock he is no where near maxing out the duty cycle of the stock injectors! WTF MAN!
You mentioned spitting. How many miles are on the car? Lat time you did a fuel filter, plugs/wires/cap/rotor, what mods do you have. Have you cleaned out the TB and IAC lately? More info will halp an educated guess, not just slapping in parts that can make it worse or blow your motor.

guys, my car is stock with just I/H/E and stock ECU.
I just cleaned my throttlebody due to bad idling and that has been solved.
I would try to clean up the IACV valve and see how it goes from there.

I get that rearview haze when I vtec too, runs totally clean before vtec though.
...I thought it was normal, cause vtec burns more oil or something. Just what my mechanic said anyway.

vtec uses up more oil. The vtec engagement point swaps you over to another more agressive lobe on your cams. If the car is perfect build, and/or running right, you will not burn extra oil "during vtec", at least not enough to smoke. I would think, again, that it would be bad valve seats, or piston rings. Maybe not bad enough to blow you motor obviously, yet. I would still do a compression and leakdown test if your car smokes (and it's not turbo).
for some reason people with honda's always seem to neglect changing the coolant, and fuel filter also for some reason!?

don't mean to high jack ur thread but i got the same problem here, but mine is not visible from the rear view mirror and is grey, i've got a b18c5r on a gsi, do u think i need to replace my fuel pump aswell. i could be running a tad lean i think...only mods are short ram intake-slightly bored TB and mugen copy headers? i do have a hole on my cat but i don't think that would make it blow grey smoke...

your not running to lean. You need to check the motor out. Start with a leak down and compression test, then report back.
