i am going to buy a tri-y header for bseries.. when i compared it to my mugen ones. the tri-y sits out like 20cms longer than the mugen, do i need to modify my cat and cat back or will it fit a jdm car and mugen cat back?

thanks

tony

You will not be able to use a JDM cat and the mugen catback with the tri-y header. The easiest fix is to discard the cat and use a test pipe between the header and cat.

If you're feeling environmentally conscious or you want to keep your exhaust legal, then you will need a shorter cat - i think SMSP do a good one, or go custom and get your exhaust shop to sort you out.

Either way, something has to give :p

Don't remove the cat! Dangerous fumes and highly illegal, read: big fine if caught.

A good exhaust shop can make anything fit.

what you can do is ask for a commodore VL xforce cat.
theyre quite small cos thats what i'm running.

any exhaust shop should be able to source u out a cat and make it fit.

Also you need b16a flywheel cover when you do tri y header

why do you simply shorten the cat-back the same amount that your header is longer ? that way you can reuse your existing cat....Its all as hard as taking it to an exhaust shop :)

PS use a cat. This isnt hardcore Japan.

exactly what ben said, lol cut ur catbaCK thats what i did no harm in that. u can still use ur existing cat but u just need a different flange welded onto the cat to match the flange on the headers. jdm yard has got some of those flanges but im sure ur exhaust shop should have em.
oh and one more thing make sure they dont cut the actual headers to make it fit instead of cutting the b pipe.
