what happens if i drive around with the air filter box open?

u mean as in witout the box of with the lid open? engine wise it wont stuff ur up engine or what so ever if u drive without a box u'll get defect

you will get crap sucked into your engine, and bits of rock & dust start to stuff up your conbustion chambers, and most likely in the end it will sieze up your engine

as everyone said above.. but since you have a dc2.. you can run it without the lid as long as the filter is still in the intake...

yeah you could do that..but in the end you're getting your filter dirty alot quicker as well as suck in heat from the engine.

If you leave the box open... as long as the air filter is on the end of the intake pipe it will be fine. Just louder, and you will loose quite a bit of response.
