Temperature problems?

Hey guys

Tonight when driving my cars temp gauge suddenly skyrocketed to nearly red as i was going up a hill then returned to normal as the road flattened out.... and even if i gave it some it would stay normal but as soon as i got to a hilly area it starts to fluctuate again..


Is it a sensor problem or could i be low on coolant??

Should i fill my overflow tank with coolant/water and see f it takes it in or??

* check coolent

* check fan is working properly ( maybe when your on slope "uphill" fan does not work) just guessing

* also check thermostat

as above, even under load it shouldn't be that bad

happened to me once too. check your coolant, might be low as mine was - the overflow resevoir.

coolant air pockets.....or the thermostat is seized CLOSED.

check and replace asap.

my supervisor at work said air pockets today

my coolant reservoir is empty though:eek:

It wasnt last time i checked...

if i fill it, it'll take the coolant as it needs or will i have to take the cap off with the car running and pour it in

Also whats the best method for bleeding air from the system

*Edit* I'll try this tomorrow then see how it goes so if its not that its my thermostat then?

10. Refill the radiator to the base of the filler neck.

11. Put the radiator cap back on up to the first click only.

12. Start the engine and let it run till it has warmed up fully (IE make sure the radiator fan comes on at least twice).

13. Turn the engine off, check the level in the radiator and add coolant if necessary.

14. Fill the overflow reservoire to the MAX mark and put the cap back on.

15. Wash off any spilt coolant with some clean water.

Did it today

Its running fine now took it for a quick strap and it seemed fine will go for a proper drive now
