it is recommended .
but if youre gonna lower the car. do it then.
changing wheels wont cause much of an alteration on wheel alignment specs, IF the specs of both rims are the same, of course the diameter being the only difference.
other than that its just like taking of a wheel and putting the same one back on.
nothing wrong with getting it checked out. =]

Do it if you have lowered the car. Otherwise, not much point as all they will find is that everything is still within spec and they'll charge you $55-70 for no adjustment.

Got mine done a month or so ago thru Wholesale Suspension Blacktown when then fitted my Tein H-tech springs. Specs below will differ I think on how low you go.
Front
Toe: 0 degree (adjustable)
Camber: -5 degrees (non adjustable)
Rear
Toe: 0 degree (adjustable)
Camber: -1.5 degrees (adjustable)
I was surprise to find out rear camber was adjustable as I did alot of reading in other forums and they all recommend camber kits for the rear which cost a few hundred dollars.
Front camber kits like Ingalls bolts are available for the front which are cheap (from memory less than US$20 if you buy in US) if you want to make the front camber adjustable as well.
