Hey Guys,

Not sure if this has been made a thread already but as the title states...has anyone had any experience with either of the two? Any pro's or con's...anyone prefer one over the other? My current battery will drain in 2 minutes when I run a phone charger off of it. I am looking to be able to pretty much play a full 2 hrs worth of a movie in the car without the engine having to be on.

cheers guys

i see more people using optima in their cars=\ .. if your in sydney they can be bought from a variety of stores. one i know is FHRX stocks them.

it depends on your budget. a optima yellow top built specifically for hondas which is d31 or 34 (i think)will cost around 350$

the yellow tops are the common choice for car audio enthusiasts as they can power large audio systems without running flat

Civics, Integras, S2000 and new Accords take D51R. The D34 is for Preludes and older Accords.

I dont know much about oddysey batteries.

But i can tell you , I bought an Optima D34 Yellow top in Perth cost me $385
worth every dollar,

I run a full sound system 2 amps powering over 3000W RMS, 2 x 12" subs, an array of neons, a screen, and all no problems.

Runs for a good amount of time without giong flat either. They are 100% the way to go.

I know someone with an Optima that exploded, spraying battery acid gel everywhere in the engine bay. ;)
There will always be issues, but the number of issues is much smaller than the number of batteries sold.

Ive got the D51 for my euro, absolutely no problems. Fixed the hard starting problem.

BTW i just finished doing my new batt terminals and re-grounding.
Took forever, but well worth the effort. :D

When it comes to batteries both Odyssey and Optima are reputable brands. Just make sure you don't purchase a battery that is too small for the task at hand. We tend to see quite a few dead Odyssey 680s here and this has sometimes earned them a reputation for being unreliable. However the 680 is primarily designed for jetskis not cars (even though many intercooler kits include them!). The battery upgrade must be of adequate size and an earthing kit is a good idea whilst you're upgrading to improve electron flow.
