View Full Version : NGK platinum for k20 in D16a
hey guys,
Had a brand new set of NGK platinum plugs lying around in the garage, they were meant to be put on my k20 but i wanted to see if they will fit in my d16a, they seemed to work alright. But i just wanted to know if this will ruin my engine in any way?
any info would be good
cheers
I would suggest putting the part number of the plugs into www.ngk.com and pulling up the exact specs of the plugs, then finding the ones that really suit your car and compare them.
D16a -- 14mm Thread, 19mm (3/4") Reach, 5/8" (16mm) Hex Size, Gasket Seat, Resistor, Solid Terminal, ISO Length,
Projected Extended Tip, V-Power (V-Grooved Centere Electrode), .044" (1.1mm) Gap
K20a2: Extreme Long Life Laser Iridium Plug, 14mm Thread, 19mm (3/4") Reach, 5/8" (
16mm) Hex Size, Gasket Seat, Resistor, Solid Terminal, ISO Length, Special Firing End Construction, Iridium Tipped Fine Wire Center
Electrode with Iridium Tipped Ground Electrode, .044" (1.1mm) Gap
seems very similar..

d16 plug part number - ZFR5J-11
k20 plug part number - IZFR6K-11
The I at the start means iridium obviously. Both plugs are pretty similar but i'm pretty sure the 5J and 6K mean they are different temp ranges.
So it will probably cause a missfire eventually

plugs are probably worth about 20% of what the engine is anyway

use it
because its from a k20 that means you'll get more power
