you need either Honda PGM tester or HDS (honda disagnostic scanner) to adjust idle speed... (im pretty sure only the HDS will do it)

a normal OBD II scanner will just give u ur vin number and error codes. u cannot change ecu settings... :(

Get a standalone unit, not one that runs with a PDA. Something like this. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GS500-Auto-CAN-Bus-OBD-II-EOBD-Code-Scanner-Reader-OBD2_W0QQitemZ280265615513QQihZ018QQcategoryZ32053 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is there a reason why? was looking at this before i looked at the USB version of it... reason is abit dumb but i have seen printscreen of the software that runs the OBD2 scanner and it looks awesome... there are like information and stuff on your car while the code reader only reads code....

Is the stand alone unit better or??

Because you can come across compatibility issues with the PDA. I have one and it now sits in a box as I can't get it to work reliably.
