Hi all, just thought I would let you all know I recently acquired a '89 Honda Legend Turbo.
It has a 2.0 LItre 90 degree V6 with a Wing Turbo developing about 140kW of power.
Don't have many pictures at the moment as I am in the middle of cleaning it.

It should go a bit harder when I replace the bad auto with a manual transmission and fix the problem with the Check Engine Light. (I don't suppose anyone knows what a code 2 & 8 means on a Turbo Sedan ECU? lol)

The dog in the first video fears the LEGEND!

Shit, look how quick it pulls from 60 to 90!

Yeah, I laughed when I watched the clip back and saw little Jack walk away in fear lol.
It goes pretty hard in comparison with the normal 2.7L Legend motor. As I say, I need to find out what the code means so I can get it running well though.

The parts with hot are out at the minute :)
Turns out I couldn't wait to fix it up so I am puitting in a manual gearbox at the moment and getting an exhaust put on.
Should be a very fun car to drive especially since the manual is nearly half the weight of the auto.

Sorry for bumping an old post but I just found out about these Honda 'Wing Turbos'. I wonder why they never developed them further and pretty much dropped turbos after the 90's, good in theory since they spool up faster cause of the 'wings'

I think these were actually developed in the UK, so it's a rare car you got there, I remember seeing one when shopping in Wentworthville, and i asked the owner if it really was a turbo (i spotted the badges) and he said although it was getting old, it still went like hell, where did you get a manual box from?
Cheers

Man thats awesome...oldschool honda turbo technology. Only if honda continued like Nissan. There would be b series stock turbo motors running around lol. Anyways i found some info on this car

Wikipedia ftw:

"Wing Turbo" version

In 1989, Honda made a version of the first-generation Legend that included a highly unique turbo charger called a "Wing Turbo". The turbo was unique due to its use of Variable Turbine Geometry, making it one of the few production cars to ever utilize this technology. This turbo was paired with the C20A engine to produce 142 kW (193 PS; 190 bhp) net at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 24.6 kg·m (241 N·m; 178 ft·lbf) at 3500 rpm. [1] In Japan, this engine was offered in vehicles labeled as "2.0 Ti Exclusive" and "2.0 Ti".

This engine was not offered for sale in any USA-spec Honda vehicle.

C20A turbo V6 SOHC 24 valve PGM-FI
1,996cc / 82.0×63.0
190 PS (187 hp/140 kW) @6000rpm
241 N·m (178 lb·ft) @3500rpm

"Wing turbo, one of the only few vehicles equipped with this technology at the time"

140kw from a 2L v6 made in the 1980's.

Makes you wonder what turbo technology would be like if honda had stuck to forced induction, or spent more time researching it.

Take the same engine. With coil packs, higher compression, 2 more cams, vtec and high octane fuel tuning.

Oh honda why oh why.

Hi Lads,

Sorry I haven't updated this thread. Been busy with Legends and life.
I haven't really done anything more with the turbo... ran out of money after converting it to manual and I need to do a few things like relocate the exhaust, put in a hand brake and replace some engine mounts before I start to play again.

With any luck I have purchased a second one so I will be able to give an update on that when I get it next week.

Until then sit tight :D
