hey guys firstly been regularly visiting the site now im a proud civic owner. Def a great forum!
Anyways in my previous car if i did not press the immobiliser button on my remote my car would not start until it was pressed. Now it was an aftermarket immobiliser so not too sure if this is different in the civic. Anyway what i have tried to do (and worked in the old car) is to leave the window open and lock the door with the remote. Then try and start the car with the key to see if it starts. It does . Is this normal? Is there anyway to test if the immobiliser works fine?
Its a Civic VTi 2008 model by the way.
thanks
chris

If you'd like to test out the immobiliser on your new one, take out the small chip inside the key head and try to start the car without it in there - that should answer your question hopefully

try again... this time leave it for about 30 secs or so after you lock it with the remote, then try and start it again. the alarm (horn) should sound, although I can't remember if the car starts.

hey thanks for the replies guys. I tried it again today. got in the car and press the lock button on the remote. Waited over 1 minute then put the key in the car and it starts straight away. Its a Civic VTI so there is no car alarm just the immobiliser. Does this make a difference? Do i just assume that the immobiliser is working?
thanks again for the help.
P.S dont really want to take out the chip in the key. If thats the only way then i think ill leave it that way....

The ignition barrel senses the chip in the head of the key, if its not within the correct distance the car wont start basically, people who buy the aftermarket flip keys will know what im on about
