Hi i was wondering if anyone has seen this swap done in their local area or personally know of anyone who has, the reason i ask is because my b16a seriously lacks low end power even with all the basic mods done, I/H/E vtec controller and ECU.

Ive looked into doing a b20 build but that is so crazy expensive and so i started looking for alternatives to get my NA power. Ive seen h22a engines online for roughly 2.2 - 2.5k so i might give that ago.

So if you have any helpful tips for me im all ears, thanks!

things to accounts for the h22 swap:

mounts, labour (not an easy swap), wiring, ECU, p/s, a/c, shift linkage

Your better off with a b20 vtec bottom end..

its probably best to even look at a b18c coversion.. with some added moddifications.

**bang for buck** particularly for a del sol.

well even using my own engine to help with the b20 build ive been quoted crazy prices upto 10k, at that price i may as well sell my car and buy a honda with a stock k20a.

i know its not cheap to make NA power which is why i was looking into an H22a, the engine comes with nice power stock and is alot cheaper than any b20 build out there, only thing which i see been a pain is installation but im sure there are people out there who can handle this. Also i dont plan on keeping the AC / PS, thnx for replying.

10k for a b20 build? damn exxy as... what does that consist of?

Do some research on h22a using a bseries gearbox (h2b)... you'll be amzed at the performance comparable to Kseries

if someone quoted you 10k for the b20, they'd probably quote $15k for the H swap.

Since you're not doing it yourself, best and cheapest option would be to buy a B18CR and just slap it in.

Yes im not installing it myself so thats probably why its costing me so much for the b20 conversion but in saying that wouldnt it still be better HP wise to install the h22 over the b20 and bang for buck?

Or will the cost of either of them break even given that the h22 needs custom mounts and wiring?

thanks for the replys!

Search up H2B setup on honda-tech.com.

Yanks claim it poors man K swap. Running a H2B setup you retain STOCK mounts and STOCK wiring (a lil modifying).

All is needed is a adaptor plate (evolution, quater sports) make em for EG/EK/Dc2.

Most swap in the yanks runs 12's -13's down the 1/4mile.

I like the B18C idea but the man wants low down torque and the H22 has SO MUCH MORE than a b18 down low :)

the conversion is not as bad as ppl make it out to be, if you know what your doing and source the right parts, its as easy as any other swap.Alot of ppl lose their motivation when they run into problems though

the only let down with the h22a conversion is the gearbox

Ive used google to track down a handful of other del sol owners who have done this conversion, mostly guys from the states. Its good cause they have detailed info and pics on their installs and from the looks of things the only bit of hardware im not able to source locally is the H2B kit.

So all i need to do is start looking for someone to do the install for me around the Brisbane area and get this project off the ground before Christmas. If anyone knows of a good installer for me to contact about this please drop a reply or pm, thanks!

fatboyz and benny have a h2b kit for sale if you need it. Since you're already b-equip the h2b would be a monster.

Since you're in brisbane, swing me a pm if your'e serious. I can supply and fit what ever you choose to do much cheaper than what you've been quoted.
