When you open your engine oil cap
and you peek inside into it.. should you be able to see oil?

No. You shouldn't be able to see the oil. Use the dipstick to tell the oil level.

ok. im just keep getting bad reads off my dipstick
when i check it.. and im worried that its lacking in oil just a little
so i was wondering if you could tell any other way.

Thought it was normal to not see anything.
Thanks aaronng.

Just change ur oil?
When was the last time you changed it?
Might be the time when it needs a topup or a flush.

use dipstick for a more accurate measure.
if you measure correctly (when car has been switched off on a flat surface for sufficient time for oil to collect in the sump), then it should be a good reading

Check the dipstick when the engine is cold, or after 5 minutes waiting after driving. Just make sure that the oil level is above minimum but close to maximum. I prefer to keep mine at maximum level.

LOL, yeah, and in a K series, it takes more than 8L of oil to be able to see anything in the valve cover. I think 10L should be enough, 12L to be sure.
