my opinion purely

illegal, unsafe, insurance and police will love your bum hole if they find out. Hubcentric ones are better/safer but you are best getting proper offset wheels.

If i had a nice sports car, i'd spend the extra money and have it done correctly.

Again thats just me

i got 20mm spacers on my rear wheels. they are hub-centric and bolt onto the hub and have longer wheels studs, this is the only way i would go if i got a spacer bigger than 3-5mm. no problem so far.

otherwise its better to choose the right offset wheels to begin with.

Try Hubcentric spacers..

I wrote a feature on a guy who runs them on the track, and they faired VERY well.

He mentioned that there was less understeer too.

A LOT safer then your common cheapo spacers.

I can get pics for you.

i have never used them, coz i havnt the need................but my bro and all his and my mates that drift....................which puts the axles, studs and other components under a lot of stress, have never had an issue with spacers, weather they are the slip on ones, or the bolt on ones.............all the same

I use slip on 3mm spacers for track rims to clear brakes. not recommended, and nuts do come a absolute tiny little bit loose if you get the wheels up to a high enough temp. So after every session, I come in and retighten the nuts.

This is what happened to a guy on another forum in the past 2 weeks, because of spacers.

Get the correct offset first time.

hubcentric spacers are usually fine if done correctly
when using slip on spacers ALWAYS use extended wheel studs
OEM studs are not long enough and made from average metals
you will strip the thread like pic above.

Yeah, no idea what's going to happen with his insurance claim!! haha.

He apparently wants to blame the tyre shop, even when they told him so. He left there with the nuts threaded onto 2MM of stud!!!

thats just ridiculous and asking for trouble then! seriously who would drive around with the wheel held on by 2mm of nut lol.

you are supposed to have a full 6-7 full turns of the lug nut to ensure a safe fit.
