The reason for stock bottom end is, cause the owner at the moment full built the b18c7 from top to bottom, and it wasnt tuned properly so the bottom end shat itself. This is the reason for built head, he is just putting the b20b bottom end so he can sell the car to me. For 8k i wouldn't be complaining so just wanted to find out if this was an ok build for daily driving.

Car will come with
Powerfc
Spoon valve springs
Spoon cam gears
ARP studs
Oil cooler
AEM fuel rail
ATS gearbox with kazz lsd 4.9fd
Ogura clutch less than 100km old
and a few extra goodies

watch your revs. reason to blowing out the bottom? high revs?

b20 has longer and weaker conrods. so it wont want to rev as high as the b18.
normally with b20 setups some minor work is done to the bottom end before it can be bolted to a b series vtec head...like the oil galleries need to be modified for vtec if im not mistaken.

anyway, just dont over-rev the thing, take advantage of the extra midrange torque the b20 provides

yeah, previous owner over revved it while not tuned probably. I think it was about 9-10k rpm. I'm actually considering getting the bottom end built a lil while the engine is still out. But hopefully ill be able to source some parts out by the end of the week.

OEM rods can handle 8800rpm..

oh nice, someone was telling me b20 redline would be about 6k.. weird

youre confused about the meaning of "redline"

all the "redline" is where manufacturers feel that the engine starts to become weak. thats all it is.

then you have the revlimiter which is a bit further on, and pysicaly stops the motor from reving anymore

I rev my B20VTEC to 8k rpm daily.....

As for the OP's question the low end torque should make it an excellent daily driver
