just wondering why do jdm type r clusters only go to 180km but the audm ones go much higher. recently bought a jdm one and only just relised

all cars in japan are speed-limited to 180 to stop wangan shenanigans

japanese cars are limited by law to 180km/h.
no idea why.

Have alook in most imports ,skylines etc - the speedo says 180km

^^^ and haven't you seen the accurate documentation in tokyo drift where he drives past at 190, and han goes on to explain that the cop cars cant keep up so they dont bother

haha most cars in australia are speed limited...my bommodore kills the engine above 170. its as if the car has stalled. but yes jap cars are speed-limited to 180 to prevent this from happening...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCS2MaUEFnw

well my point is there isnt a valid reason displayed sofar. Just because FNF states its the reason , doesnt mean its so :)
Im sure its legislation passed in Japan , for reasons apart from impressing gaijins lol

its weird , considering here in OZ legally we can only do 110km/h most places yet cars areable to go to 250 + km/h. Go figure.
