As a solution you can search and find Eur003act's console led DIY or you can go back to honda to buy the LED which will prob cost about $10.

and no worries mate, your DIY is good but i haven't taken the initiative to do it yet.
Did jaycar sell those leds you bought in white in another colour like red?
Cheers,

lol yeah theyll be fine... in all honesty, anything between 300-1000ohm would work...
i used 470ohm in mine (wanted them bright) but they burnt out after a couple of months :(
i have to redo two in my centre console this weekend, and ill prob use bigger 1watt 700ohm ones just to be sure :p

After some playing around....i finally got one of them done and tested......bloody hell it was hard work. So anyway, i finally get it tested, then i try to put the sunroof button part back into the....button holder thing. But my resistor wont go through! its jammed!! So i squash it into the little hole, but the wires were touching, thereby bypassing the resistor! and all this smoke came out. lol. I think i've blow a fuse as all my interior lights + parkers dont work :S

Yea, they were really nice. They made sure i knew how to hook it up as well. Really simple, but it was nice that they took the time to explain it. Use a 590ohm one.

Ken-f
28-09-2008, 06:48 PM
Get brighter LEDs, ahah I just got home from work and tried again, because my mate gave me a few LEDs....but same issue. too dim. I'm gonna go get some 500mcd ones tmr. That was just right (imo).

so lower the number the brigthter? or the high the number the brighter???
the leds i got in there at the moment are 2800mcd red ones and 3500mcd white ones
Ken-f

shivers. Thats really bright. You should sand it down, because the LEDs are very directional. Sanding them down will give them a better spread of light.
Bigger the number, the brighter.

i onli sanded around the bulb to make it frostlike looking but yeah there not realli that bright.....there so dim i can bearly see them
do you know if i can get the oem bulbs at jaycar??? i might turn them bak to there original state for a while and do more testing....

yeah i know....i was assuming mine would be brighter but no...its more dim...lol
hrmmm....i dont know how im gonna fix this....i want to put bak the old bulbs but they look lik they were stuck on with some type of glue instead of being soldered......i need to fix this or else i wont beable to see my button in the dark =[

did you sand down the exterior of the LEDs?
LEDs are very directional, the stock illumination is designed to work with unidirectional globes... ie: light dissipates in all direction lighting the buttons fully... if your using a standard LED, the light will shine directly into the back of the housing, and not illumintae the buttons... hence why it'll be dim
also, which buttons are you talking about? the window/door switch buttons are already 2-3v and do not require resistors... and the stereo globes are 6v so need to use lower value resistors to that required for 12v operation (i used 360ohm)

I was under the impression you were wanting to change your seat warmer, VSA and sunroof buttons (thats what i was doing anyway).

LOL...i did my whole centre console hahaha but yeah i did sand around the outside to make it frostlike looking how you explained in your diagrams...how much sanding do i need to do??? LOL but yeah i have resoldered my original lights bak...now im just gonna test around and see what i come up with and then try again some other time hopefulli with luck =]
another thing i realised is that honda do not supply those little lamps that light up the centre console....i went and asked today and the guy said he never seen anything so little...haha. i was thinking...so what happends when these little lamps die out???? he told me they onli sell the whole unit which is lik 3.5k LOL
i dont know if the power windows buttons and all that use the same sorts of lamps but yeah...

lol yeah if those lights die normally u need to buy a complete new cd unit! sooo expensive!
if its the cd lights your doing, use 360ohm resistors, will light up alot more :)
the window winders are already LEDs, so they shouldnt ever die...

hrmmm may be i used to wrong resisters that why my red leds were so dim......becuz when i asked for resisters the guy just gave them to me...LOL. so i just took them....haha. but yeah i know the leds should be realli bright coz they are 2800mcd red ones and 3500mcd white ones....i paid lik $40 bucks for 24 leds...=[ but yeah....i will giev it another try when i have free time......
btw you said the windows were already leds yeah...so no resistors right??? just straight replacement???

Do you meen those little ones sitting in the little blue holders (on the vsa, sunroof and seat warmer buttons)?? Honda DO sell them...but at 10 each....i ended up just using white 1000mcd bulbs today. I think i'd get sick of the red ones haha.

29-09-2008, 11:13 PM
it those little lamps with the blue rubber thing around the bulb and it sits in a black rectangle housing thing....lol. you serious your honda sells them??? coz my honda spare parts department didnt even know what they were......
Ken-f

ahaha, it took me a bit to explain to the guy over the phone. But they DO have them. $9.85 each or something.

the little blue round ones that replace the VSA / sunroof / seat warmers yes they sell... but the ones in the CD player / climate control unit, no they dont sell...
as for the window winder button question, yes theyre just straight replacement with LEDs... no resistors needed!
