hey guys, quick question for the mechs out there
my brake pedal jst recently started to lose its compression after a long drive,
like driving a long time, it brakes normally, and then foot sinks to the floor. and complete stop brake isnt possible
could it be my brake master cylinder?
not too safe atm.lol
and if it is, can i fit other MBC such as dc2r and newer models of dc2s? (aka does it hafta b 94-97dc2)
thanks dudes

Mate, that's quite serious. Go to a proper mechanic and get this fixed. Don't screw with brakes. Perhaps you just have an air bubble in the brake line. Same thing happened to me with my clutch more recently. Bled the clutch, and all was fine.

But yeah, go get it checked out mang.

Almost definitely the master cylinder. Seems to be a fairly common problem with older Honda MCs. If so then one of the seals is leaking internally, allowing fluid (and pressure...) to leak from the cylinder proper back into the reseviour, hence you probably aren't seeing any drop in fluid level(?), i.e. the leak isn't external with 'lost' fluid being 'recycled' to and from the reseviour.

I've had this problem, and it seems very much related to temperature, i.e. on a hot day it's much worse than a cold day (when it might not occur at all), and when the car is being driven slowly, or after it's been sitting still (engine on or off). In these conditions the MC picks up ambient engine bay heat, but less so on cooler days and / or at higher speeds (with more airflow through the engine bay).

^^ very tru, i had this problem in my EG and when i swapped to a bigger master cylinder/booster it was all gone. i also noticed that it was worse on warmer days sitting at the lights brake pedal down. would sink slowly, but you could notice it.
also if you can get a DC2R 1" master cylinder with booster, this would be an awsome bang for buck upgrade on your braking system. but some modification is needed because the hard-brake lines are in different places campared to your DC2. or if you dont have enough dosh, you can always get one from a pre-facelift or facelift model DC2 (straight fit), or Civic EK4 (Vti-r) but modification is needed

thanks guys,
il check with the mechanics to make sure, then probably jst do a swap to the same one, not looking for any upgrades, mayb to another car whenthe P plates are no longer
