What I like to get is the automatic tailgate closing mechanism like what they have on the Lexus RX330 and Toyota Kluger.

only JDM Odyssey has that, it's really a handy option.

Got a shot of the image on your monitor when reversing? Does it show with the cross hairs or just a normal video image?

nah doesn't have that, maybe because I only using the camera instead of the whole set-up with the OEM monitor .........

Anyone got any idea how's the quality like?

aka_NSX
19-08-2009, 11:36 PM
from the spec the quality it won't be as good coz they are using CMOS, usually a good camera is using CCD, but still its a bargain thou

hey Evo, why u and me are always on the same spot............. leave one for me..........
as aka_NSX advised, that one is not that good as using CMOS but if you pay $30+ more you can get a CCD one (search more on the same seller). i'm tossing at the moment.........
hey aka_NSX, can you see the rear bumper from yr JDM camera?

aka_NSX seeing that you got the know how on installing the camera, would you think it is something a DIY noob like me can attempt or just pay an audio installer to do it?

aka_NSX

I have heard that you installed the Foglight yourself so I guess you won't have any problem installing this . . .

it doesn't matter . . . its still bloody hard to run the 2 wires that need to go under the fuse box in the engine bay . . .

so I reckon you can manage to DIY

I hope no one else has bought the camera cos it doesn't fit our model  :thumbdwn:. Was trying to take apart my car to see how I could lay the wiring when I realised that the camera case is tooo freaking long. The width is fine.

Top one is the camera, bottom one is the OEM cover

So now I'm trying to get a refund for it, if it fails, then I'll have to 'customise' it. I should really stop buying crap from ebay:confused:

oh shit, never expect that mate...... at least its not that hard for customise that.....

evolution
05-09-2009, 08:53 PM
Good thing it didn't cost too much too... Yeah was looking at it, it would just be cutting the casing to the correct length, doesn't have to be perfect cos nobody is going to notice it anyway

aka_NSX

thats very bad . . .

for me since you already got it you should just try to modify it, coz if you ask for refund, you still lost some money for the postage and you don't know how long does it take

make sure you still lodge a complaint and give them a negative feedback . . . at least other people won't get rip off again

The guy's attitude is a bit bad, but he has 'offered' to refund the item, minus postage. I think like you said, not worthwhile sending it back, so I'll have to mod it.
I've told him to remove his Odyssey listings or at least change the item description to say that it may not fit the face lift Odyssey's here. That's at most to what I'll do cos it seems to fit the Odysseys in China.

It looks a bit different from the picture isn't it?

evolution

Dan - Actually it looks exactly like the ad. Its the angle that I took the photo that makes it look different.

Quick question for Dan and aka_NSX. Did you guys have to drill any holes to allow the camera cables to run into the boot door? I can't seem to find an opening to run the wires from the plate lights into the boot frame.

Atjo

My cable go through underneath the light, so the light doesn't clip on properly, but it's ok because the cover will hold tight the light anyway.

aka_NSX

2nd that, but mine its clip fine coz I file the housing . . .

Something is not right with my reversing camera. Hooked up the HU to interrupt when reverse is engaged. Camera also gets power from the reversing light and the camera is attached to an RCA input on my Clarion HU unit marked 'CCD input'. When I switch to reverse, the screen changes and the camera powers up. The image comes out really bad like when you don't tune your TV properly.

I tried changing the AV input source to a RCA Aux input and when I engage reverse, the picture from the camera is as clear as day!!!???? But I can't use AUX cos if I leave the camera attached to it I will need to manually change channel to see.

Anyone got any idea what's happening? The picture is clear as day on the AUX input, but totally gibberish on the proper CCD channel.

Is CCD input for reverse camera? My JVC head unit has an input with a label says reverse camera. Or maybe the seller gave you the CMOS instead of CCD?

evolution
20-09-2009, 01:05 PM
It is labeled CCD input and is descibed as the input for reversing cameras in my HU install book. Wouldn't put it past the seller to give me the wrong camera although it was marked CCD when I recieved it. I'm go to my audio installer to see what they do.

AusAccord
20-09-2009, 08:16 PM
thats what i think too for mixing up CMOS and CCD by the sellers especially you said "clear as day" via AUX but i'm noob on this so better shut up........

aka_NSX
20-09-2009, 10:02 PM
maybe you should check the colour system set-up on your headunit PAL / NTSC, maybe the camera is NTSC and the input on the Headunit still in PAL . . .

evolution
20-09-2009, 11:08 PM
Did that already, I switched between PAL and NTSC on the HU camera interrupt options, made no difference.
If the HU only accepts CCD in the camera input, will connecting a CMOS camera cause the picture to go all crappy?

Update on the ebay camera...

Don't even bother looking at it 1) Doesn't even fit 2) The Camera doesn't work at all, had to buy a new camera. 3) The crap camera doesn't have the reversing distance indicator as shown in the ad.

In the end I settled with this. Not as neat...but at least it works.
