SO what you guys think about the civic sport. car has only 114kw.
I was "shocked" when i got my R/T to .018 and i never warmed da tyres up. was running cold tyres when i got dat reaction time.
I hope this would help you civic sport guys out there and give you hope, our civic sports can do good times and our cars are not nuggets.
Planning to get a cold air-intake when i sell the one i have now, which is da wrong one, and also goin to get some semi-slicks, hoping to do 15 Flat or maybe a high 14

Thats looks like a good time..........how many km's on the clock?
Might give mine a wack soon. It's got 55Kkm on the clock and seems really grunty these days.
you'd need more than intake to get into the high 14's IMO.

R/T is the time between when the light goes green and you leave the line, more an indication of you than the car.
2.3second 60ft isn't bad though, first time at the strip? i was pulling 2.7's on my first outing... oh the shame

Great time! You're matching Accord Euros, which have a better power to weight ratio (140kW for 1395kg)

nice to see these cars mixing it up.
no real chance of cracking 14's without SERIOUS work tho. Aim for mid or low 15's with some mods :)

i could only manage a 16.2 or 16.4- that was with spare wheel, backseat, unleaded petrol almost full, and 80kg driver.
if you take these things out of any car, it would be significantly faster

i filled up 17L of ron 98 cuz a full tank slows you down, its too heavy. so now i've been driving da car without da back seats or spare tyres for da last 2 months, its kinda of a benifit, becuase saves abit of petrol and FREEE speed, lighting your car, is da way to go,

yeah but i think it ruins the balance of the car because all of a sudden the rear end of the car is much lighter, whereas honda wouldve factored in this weight when designing the car. however if u rekon theres no issue! then just get one of those tyre repair kits and throw it in the boot, just in case you actually do get a flat LOL!

yea i know what you mean about ruining da car balance, but there after market parts to compinsate it. also if u have a flat tyre, then call ur parents to pick you up. or tell them to drop da other spare tyre off to u, but i if u doing far distance travel then a spare tyre is a must. i went down to YOUNG to pick cherrys with no spare tyres, why becuase i'm an idiot, but the tyres were brand new but, so its ok.

The spare tyre won't do much if anything to a 1,300kg cars balance. Even running different fuel loads won't as the tank is low and central (under the back seat. The back seat of an FD is around 8kg so your times would come down to your driving rather than the performance benefits of the car being lighter.

sorry man, the car being lighter has alot of factor for performace, i've had 4 people in my car and i gave it up da street, felt like i was bogging down. my friend ran a 15.2 with da 15inch sub and spare tyres at da back, second time he went to da wsid he took it all out including da spare tyres, but left da back seat and he ran a 14.9 so weight does play a roll in the performace of your car.
is anyone out there that can second on it. about the performance on weight reduction,
The lighter the car the lesser it has to pull to make it faster, dats why V8s are running about 300kw at da wheels and still do shitty time down da 400. cuz there too heavy. JDM_YARD YONAS told me to take my interior when i was at his shop talkin to him.

You're assuming that he drove 100% the same way. 0.3 can be made up in a launch, a gear change, a different side of the strip. Comparing no back seat and spare tyre to 4 people weighing 70kg each is a little exagerrated to say the least.
Weight reduction makes huge in roads, but you need to do quite alot to see real gains. I never bothered taking the rear seat out of my car when I tracked it because I knew I could make up the time by learning to drive better rather than losing 8kgs.
Taking out the spare wheel does not affect balance and just like I said before losing a couple of kgs won't see lap times tumble. In contrast my car has shed over 100kgs using exotic bodyparts, AC removal, interior removal etc. I can't put an exact figure on gains but the overall weight reduction helps acceleration, braking and cornering so you see gains right across the board.
What exactly is a shitty time for a 300rwkw V8? There are far too many factors to say they run shit times. A HSV R8 will run a high 12 with a good launch and they have around 230rwkw and a kerb weight of 1800kg. That's not slouching it at all.

You can't compare 12kg from the spare tyre and 8kg from the rear saeats with 4 people (240kg).
And you don't gain 0.3 seconds from taking out the backseat and sub. You get that from better launching and shifting.

i looked at da jan 2008 addition on WHEELS magazine for da civic sport 0-400, it done a 16.2, with all interior trim that would proberly been tested by a very good driver i think. and for me to take out da back seats and spare tyres i ran a 15.6,.. so if i put back my seats and tyres, i would proberly run a 16.2 or would i be quicker then a 16.2 , becuase what i have heard is that da civic vti 07 is faster then da civic sport becuase of it been lighter then the sports model. would anyone out there have a civic sport that is a good driver that wants to test it down da tracks with me, we can comepare da different between a full trim civic sport with a lighten trim civic sports, would be sweet to give it a try, or a civic vti , it would help alot for future wanting to buy FD driver to choose on what car would they want.
It should give a point of view on how the civic sports and vti and vti-l ON there performace.

Indeed that may be a good test, ALTHOUGH there are many other factors that need to be taken into consideration, such as the skill between the drivers, launch times, reaction times, shift times etc....
There are many things to be taken into consideration and if u want an accurate result, the same person would have to do the same test in the same conditions many times to get a decent result.

just to add to the mix -
i have a lighter car with a more power engine (980kg/141kw) - and run the same if not faster 1/4 with full interior than "stripped" interior.
(back seat/passenger seat/spare tyre) Power to weight ratio is something , like wind resistance , to consider when looking to shave tenths off a time. iek the professionals do in the ultra worked drag cars :)
Not a shopping trolley civic :)

So are you wanting semi slicks for circuit or for 1/4?
Stay away from semi slicks if your sole purpose for the car is to punt it down the 1/4.
If you are going to go circuit racing... I advise you to rethink your choice of rim size.....

Semi slicks are designed for cornering grip. It doesn't really need more explaining than that. If you wanted good tyres for drags get drag radials or slicks like Hoosier. They would be overkill for a FD Sport though. I've seen cars with double the power of your car run street tyres.

Trust me, you don't need semi slicks for a K20 with the mods you have. You'll start loading drivetrain unneccesarily and you'll probably find that the extra traction doesn't allow a fast start. Your car doesn't have enough torque to use that traction. You'll just end up bogging the car down. Go for an RE-001 or Michelin Pilot Sport with your stock rims. You'll get better bang for buck and won't have to worry about breaking things.

ive never properly tested but id imagine more than 9.4.
i run ultimate petrol on mine, manual, and i just had a full service, valve adjustment, air filter, fuel filter, and the car feels much much faster than it did before i had this service done.
i have lined up a new type r civic and we were very close, which made me think the type r isnt as good as i thought. more hp, similar torque, more weight....perhaps crap driver haha

most of the difference is down to the driver.
eg. my old rs clio beat a 09 bmw z4 twice in a row from a rolling start at 50kmh. and thats a 3.5L v a 2L.

yeah, it would be driver. ive had a few hondas in the past, can always get a decent launch. i had a good race with my mate in his 350z one day purely because he stuffed up his launch. even though his car is much faster and did pull me in, it took a few gear changes to which gets you past 100kph.
but really, the torque per tonne would have to be very similar between the sport and the type r due to the type rs weight, if you get a good launch you are only going to do well revving it right out.
i will go do some tests this afternoon and see if i can video it with my mino hd mounted to the dash, see how it goes. maybe it is 9.4, but that seems very long i would have thought around 7.5 or so.

I think it will be 8 or mid 8's.
I don't think the power:weight ratio is significantly from the R18A FD1 civics.
Someone had posted up stats somewhere, just otta find that :S

didnt get a chance before as it was a bit wet here and i forgot to take my mino out with me.
but driving along and giving it a bit im sure 8 would be possible.
i was giving it a bit before to see and hitting 60 from 1st to 2nd gear seems like about 3 seconds or so.

no intake, stock standard.
no vtec scream or anything, you dont get it as much with an ivtec as you do with older b and h series engines, well from what ive seen. but you would get a nice engine sound with some work.
