is 255/40/17 too big for 17x8"

If so what would be a better recommended size?

Cheers,

Andre

Way too big...your pushing it with 235 ..let alone 255..and with a 40 profile?? thats gotta be a HUGE tyre.

east way to work it out is just like this

7" rim x 25.4= 177.8mm

this gives you the size of the rim in mm just like the tyre and due to most tyre sizes you must ad appx 25mm to the rim size for bead lock
aslo just for info
the profile is a percentage of the total tyre with so the side wall height of the tyre is in your case 40% of the width
eg:- 255 40 17 your tyre wall height would be 102 mm measured from the inner rtyre lip to the crown edge

oh well i hop i helped

p.s. best size for 17x8 is 205 40 17 or 215 35 17 max 225 35 17

Yes you can.

Approved size on Toyo Site 235/40/R17 accepted 8inch - 9inch.

245/40/R17 is also accepeted on 8inch - 9inch.
