Hey guys,

doing a wire tuck on my em1.

although i went to bunnings and couldn't find the 3M electrical tape i used on my EG before. ( best ones i reckon )

anyone recommend another brand and maybe where i can get it?

i want a good one which doesn't untape itself coz of heat, grease, or water etc..

try John R. Turk.

Most electrical tapes don't with stand heat that well and the glue starts becoming sticky after some time.

3M do make one that is specifically for cars, heat and oil resistant.

But i've haven't seen these around before.

The 3M stuff is good. And if you are working in the engine bay, 3M makes a glass fibre electrical tape which is heat resistant. I use both in my car.

You'll have to get it from an auto parts shop. I don't think Bunnings sells it anymore. I get mine from work.

get the proper piping conduit and just tape the ends and small sections along the loom just like OEM.

Taping the entire loom is a waste, and a pain in the ass.

yeh but looks chunky

my plan is to cut the piping out of the loom tape up the wiring loom to any custom wires i have and extend or cut wires and feed from fenders.

im not working on the wiring around the motor just yet, just the lines which feed to the headlights and stuff if that makes sense

you can buy different sizes of conduit to suit the bundle of wires you have. IMO Tape is no where near as good as conduit.

why do you think conduit is used in OEM setups....

Tape won't withstand a rock being flung up into your gaurd area.

Plus if you have a wire short of fail it takes a lot of work to unravel all the tape.

true, but i hate the conduit, thats whty im doing this to get ride of it HAHAHAHA

although i agree it will be a pain if a wire does fail.

but wire tucking will make it worse!

the whole point is to not see the wires anyway so who cares what they're wrapped in.

conduit will be easier and if you don't see it who cares what it looks like.
