sounds normal to me.
all vtecs ive driven behind blows a little smoke when vtecing.

someone care to explain why?

my guess is, vtec= more air and exhaust flow. which results in obviously, more exhaust gases. and since youd only be in vtec for a period of 3-5 seconds with WOT before you change gears. it could explain the white smoke. and i wouldnt think its white. i reckon its more of a greyish colour. which is..exhaust gases.

just my guess. =]

its called blow by,
in vtec its burning oil at high rpm's

to fix it you have to replace rings and hone the bore. since it only does it in VTEC then its probably not worth the trouble and cost to repair.

if its blow-by it may be time to run slightly thick oil to stop burning. Try different brands and the next one up. i.e 5w40 or 10w40

you can try, but if the bore is glazed it wont help much,

Can't avoid blowby, but he can stop the oil from entering the intake manifold by installing an oil catch can.
