Hi all, I have overheating problem with my EG with B16A2 swap.

the problem:
I have found that my coolant was boiling and the fan didn't come on, I determined that the thermostat isn't working so I unplug the plug and short the circuit to make the fan running all the time. but the coolant still gets boiling even the fan is running constantly. even just for a 10-15 min trip. this causes loose of coolant by evapourating when it's boiling at the overflow bottle. does anyone know what the problem is? could it be the engine problem? somewhere creates extreme heat? I never had this before with the D15 engine.
-no leaks found
-fan works fine constantly after short the circuit
-coolant topped up

Checked the flow of the radiator? i.e not blocked? Could be also water pump, thermostat or worst case Headgasket.

So go from the least expensive and start replacing parts and see if it fixes the problem.

the water flow is fine, because i had the egine running whilw im topping up the coolant. can this also proof the water pump is fine too?

what would happen if it's the head gasket? I checked the oil, dont see water mix (white stuff).

Doesnt always has to be oil and water mix together to be blown headgasket. Run the car without a thermo and report back.

this is what im doing now, I unpluged the thermostat.
what is the symptom for a blown gasket?

So your running your car without thermo and water tem still rises? either water pump, Headgasket or radiator blocked.

I will test out the thermostat at the lower hose, will come back after that. thanks jimmy.

flush the radiator? replace the thermo stat? then go for waterpump

im using a new radiator and done less than 2000kms.
I took out the thermostat today and tested it using boiling water, kept it in boiling water for few mins and it does not open, as far as i know, it should open at somewhere between 90-100c degrees isn't it right? correct me if im wrong. and on the thermostat says 78c degrees
so a f***ed thermostat will cause boiling coolant?

changed the thermostat, problem fixed, got it off my D15b with a higher temperature (82c), the bottom hose gets hot and the fan comes on when it's hot.

thanks for everyone's help!
