HI, I'm interested to know at what RPM your car idles (when the engine is warmed up ) when in Drive and all load bearing accessories are turned off.

should be 900.

Mine is 650. Was told this is normal. But my car is stock. Is yours?

around that range.

Why is this bothering you?

Hmmm. Any one else at 650? If I get sufficient responses I can take this information to the dealer for a please explain. I feel my idle is a bit rough and another member on this forum has experienced it too.

I got an auto. Many people at different times have complained about a rough idle. I am wondering what baseline RPM would be indicative of a rough idle. This would give others an idea whether they have a rough idle or not.

Mine is 600-700 when warm.

And you don't feel your idle is a bit rough?

No. Not rough. Must be your aircon turning on and causing your engine to vibrate.

Yes, that's true but the engine always feels rough until it has warmed up. After about 3 minutes then it starts to smooth out. Seems worse in the colder weather.

When my engine's been running for a couple of minutes from cold and is idling at around 1000rpm it seems quite coarse - the vibrations at that engine speed seem to reverberate a fair bit (not sure if this is common to all Euros or just mine). It smoothes out a lot when it warms up and the engine speed drops to ~750rpm.

Mine is exactly the same. It can feel quite rough indeed. At about the 3 minute mark it begins to smooth out but it's not perfectly smooth and quiet when in drive. However in Park or Neutral you barely feel a thing. I don't know if the roughness is normal or not.

650rpm (6MT, A/C is OFF)

However sometimes it likes to rev at around 900 for some reason.

mines around 700rpm, but last time at the lights it went under 500rpm and the engine was shaking badly, i had the aircon on medium high though is this a common for the engine to shake like its about to stall in a manual where you dont apply enough throttle or dont press the clutch in time and it shakes badly. mines an auto btw.

Mine will actually increase to about 725RPM when the A/C kicks in. The A/C actually smoothes out my idle shakes but induces its own vibrations that can be felt through the car floor.
