Hey guys, Im after the thread sized for the 2 main lines going into the steering rack, atm its open as Ive left the power steering out, and Id like to get fittings + hose to loop the system so the fluid is circulated within it rather then been pumped out. Thanks
WHAT ! you've been running your power steering with no loop ? its been OPEN ?
ie: you have no fluid in your rack ?

yep.. Doesnt do it as much harm as people tend to believe, more harm when you have a PS pump with no fluid then an open rack. think duy was running his old setup with open rack longer than I have

been runnin a "open rack" for about 1.5 years and no issues. As long as its semi-sealed with a breather of sorts to prevent dirt n shit gettin in , it runs fine.

any chance to get the car to a ENZED or similar distributor....go in , grab a few thread adaptor samples and try them out to find exactly the ones you need. they DO stock them , as i did the exact same thing. Trial and error will get you the result

yeah will do, I ran to a few stores the other day and they couldnt match it, so definatly ENZED when I get a chance

why not use stock fittings? Just cut the pipe and run a "U" rubber hose.

markoJEK1,
any chance you could write up the ENZED part numbers?
Be a great resource on Ozhonda.com.

Will do if I do end up going through them rather then getting some oem lines and looping them
so no fluid is required in your steering rack ??
i always assumed it would seize up..
damn ! learn something new everyday lol
yeh marko. if you find the right ones, let us know how it goes..

fluid is still in the rack , it just means there is no more fluid circulation just whats in there. Works with a breather fine.

i've run open, looped, looped with breather, didn't notice any difference between the setups.
Speed flow make fittings that fit, here a write up i did ages back with part numbers but all the pics are gone... http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41938

i'm assuming this setup is for people who are getting rid of the P/S belt?

Pulling off the PS belt means at parking speeds you get an Arnie style bicep workout.
[PS belt off] At driving speeds it's quite nice, however the car is a lot more susceptible to tramlining.
Looping the PS fluid tubes is supposed to improve the low speed resistance.

reckon it'd make any diff if you ran the fluid to a reservoir ? hehe seen a few setups like that. interesting
