Recently my A/C died so i had it looked at yesterday. Found out the compressor is gone.

First guy quoted $3800 which is just crazy and the second guy quoted $1285 ($800+485).

I took a look on ebay and found this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=&item=140265487344

With postage and stuff, it came to about $450. I also tried calling about 5 other places, but it is really hard to find the compressor for the Euro.

Now my question is, is the compressor from a regular accord (2003-2005) the same as the Euro's compressor? (2004)

I've asked the seller a few questions, but its night time over there.

Just wondering is this a common problem on the early EUROS? From what I have read the early TSX have have many problems with their A/Cs packing up. If that's the case it's probably worth investing in the extended warranty if it covers the compressor.

Yea. it is a known issue with Euros/TSXs. SUCKS, but thats life. I bought mine second hand. It was just under 4YO. Had it for just under 3 months.

Did you purchase the extended warranty?

First time i've heard of the air-con problem. I've heard more cases about the console lights dying than the aircon going kaput.

Still, every car has their issues - i was considering the B6 A4 until i read so many cases (far more than the console lights dying) of the CVT ECU dying and replacements going for ~$5k from Audi! Ouchies.

I think the one in the OP was for a regular accord.

have you tried calling up your local honda spare parts ask them the cost and the part number used? then search online using that specific part no.

Yea, people dont seem keen to give me the part number. One of the friendly members here has offered to get me a brand new genuine part at a fraction of the cost. The normal price is $1250!! I can't justify paying so much when there are brand new ones for about 400 from america. Obviously not genuine honda, but it does the same job.

It says on the link that it's for 04-06 Acura TSX.Nearly all mechanical components are interchangable with our Accord Euro.i reckon it'd fit.

Not sure why not - have you visited your local dealer parts department? I have obtained part numbers many times by visiting the dealer. Then you can see if it matches to the part sold in USA.

I got one from Hondwreck in Melbourne. I dun think its the best price, but its much better than the price of a new one.
