Hi does anyone know if there will be a big difference in upgrading brakes of a civic vtir to either a prelude vtir or and integra type r ? Are there any specs which include caliper size or how many pots they have and rotor diameter?
Has anyone had this done and is it significantly better ?
I want to perhaps go on track one day so i would like something which is sufficient. Or do you reckon just having an upgrade rotor and pads are good enough ?

Why do you need to upgrade the brakes is the first question you should ask yourself..
The jump from VTI to ITR is quite big but for VTIR to ITR is not so much..
I went from 94 EG5 to 2000 DC2 front calipers and the difference is amazing..
I only upgraded to pass engineering for my boosted VTI.
Very happy I did anyway!

Yeah,do it.I'm in the process now.Putting integra front brakes on my EK1 Civic (rear's are disk) :)
+ Stainless steel brake lines
Nice set of pads
Castrol Dot 4 hi temp brake fluid
And make sure you have a cusco brake stopper!
I had 240mm brakes on my EGSi which I improved upon with slotted rotors and lucas pads which was good for street, upgraded to 262mm dc2 setup ( slotted rotors & EBC yellow DB1292 pattern pads )when I had my B16a conversion done along with dc2r MC+booster.
Which was great for street, motorkhanas, sprints , hillclimbs and had minimum dust and noise etc. But on the long track at my local Barbagallo raceway which is harsh on brakes they got up to 500-520C which was stressing the components a bit ie while the pads thrived fine at those temps my fat fives clear lacquered turned yellowish and long term cant be good for the wheel bearings and piston seals etc.
So with sticky R comp tyres I now have, keeping the same setup would cause high wear on the pads at those temps at the circuit so I'm about upgrade to the 282mm setup. Downside aprt from costs is the additional weight of those monster brakes, those Nissin VL1517 calipers weigh 5kg each, those big pads about 1kg/pr and the rotors are 6.5kg so about 1-1.5kg more than the 262mm item.
Your car being an EK4 is heavier than my EG, so you may or may not exceed what the 262mm setup can do for you in your app. A lot depends on the circuit, amt temp, tyres you have, power of the car and how well and hard you drive your car.

There is no need to bother spending that sort of money on a car that is occasionally going to see the track (and even if it was going to see it that regularly, there are still better value for money options).
As previously stated, an upgrade to your pads/discs will do wonders. If you want to move up from there look at your mc and also think about increasing the size of your discs.

BAH waste of cash
What version Civic is he running on?
If like me VTI I just upgraded the fronts with ITR $500 bucks plus $100 install..
Now that's value IMO
