yooo pplz
Here is my exhasut system story..

well i wanted to swap my ReinHard Catback system from my old car wreck onto my new one...

I assumed my old 93 had stock headers and the system was just simply bolted on.

However when i took the stock system of my 97 i noitice the difference ( and still tried to fit it anyways :P)
The headers on my 93 had what i would call a normal flange.
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/9966/normalrs4.th.jpg (http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?image=normalrs4.jpg)http://img443.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif (http://g.imageshack.us/thpix.php)

The headers on the 93 fitting onto the Reinhard Cat flange with the same shape. Both bolts holes being horizontal to the ground and thus matching up. having a gasket like this
http://www.legreeracing.com/prodimage/rotax%20exhaust%20gasket.jpg between them.

The 97's stock system however had what i would call more of a male and female joint and with the bolt holes almost being on a 45degree angle from the ground.
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/3300/12xz6.th.jpg (http://img296.imageshack.us/my.php?image=12xz6.jpg)http://img296.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif (http://g.imageshack.us/thpix.php)

Obviously i need new headers or mod my exhaust to fix the stock headers as i wish to keep the Rein Hard system.

Anyone have any ideas? Does it seem my old car has after market headers to fit the ReinHard system? The ReinHard system having a 'normal flange' is thus not compatible with Honda headers? I need a new flange to fit the ReinHard to my new Tegs standard headers?

My plan is to go to a muffler shop and get a flange to match the 97's headers. My mate ( who is a good welder) can cut and re-weld the flange on the reinhard system. Of course with the flange at the correct angle...

Im assuming this male/female, angled flange with a Donut exhaust gaskets is what most have ? And so when i do get headers, my re-welded ReinHard trusty cat back system will fit.

thanks for your patience :P

Any advice thanks guys.

Considering all the work and $$ involved... why don't u invest in a set of decent headers.. buy the suitable flange for that header... and reflange your current cat ? It would make the trouble worthwhile instead of reverting it back to stock Teg headers.. (good excuse to go JDM headers..as they require a reflange anyways.. :) ) Good performance upgrade in my opinion...

just a thought, the join for your cat and catback has 3 bolts right?
try unbolting the three bolts and rotate the cat and see if you can match the position of the headers and the catback

just to help u all out - its header not headers

headers = plural = two or more of the same object :)

IMO just go straight to a good muffler shop and get a pro to weld it all up properly - guarantee you against leaks etc too

What flange comes with a good JDM header? ( thx bennjamin for the correction :P)
A 'normal' like my Reinhard system? (will fit my system without moding)
or a 'Male/female' flange like on the 97 standard ? ( needs to be moded anways)

Vinny, the Cat is on ReinHard system is welded in. Sure i could cut and rotate it, the bolts would line up but it woudlnt fit together properly. There would still be gap i recon and no gasket would fit.

thx 4 ur input guys :)

maybe weld the a flexi pipe (http://www.toda-europe.com/catalog/images/product_K20A_flex_ex.gif) between the flange and the cat, that way, u dont have to worry too much about alignment if u do get a header in future..

Can anyone help me out?

a decent JDm header... DC2R 4-1 , J's racing.. 5zigen.. etc.. have 2.5 " JDM (sorta like a bell mouth ) flange...costs about 50+ delivered from most traders here...

Well.. to start you off...
headers are a quick and easy way to increase power to your car without the expensive option of opening up the engine... so if you don't intend to do monster builds.. i suggest spending the most of ur hard earned cash of headers... E.g. Toda 4-2-1.. 1.5k from some traders here.... Might wanna add a highflow cat while you're at it... :)

All the best in tuning... :)

thx dude.
Yeah, I 100% agree. Im pretty sure i wanna go the 4-2-1 as low/midrange torque is what im lacking/after :)

However i cant see myself forking out such a large amount of cash for a big brand. Im currently looking for a nice second hand set, so u can get a nice set abit cheaper.

I think ide be looking around $400 to get a set of average branded extractors, e.g. hurricane or Xforce.

However i need to do some more research.

thx 4 the advice.
