hey guys...i was thinking of changing my brake system on my civic fd1 and was thinking of going spoon caliper + 300mm mugen rotors + SSBH...not sure which caliper to choose or will they all fit?? maybe 4pot monoblock or something?

do you really need that much stopping power atm? dont get me wrong its good to upgarde brakes, its one of the best mods you can do. but have you thought about maybe be getting aftermarket bushes, this has a mass effect on braking aswell. just start small and work your way up

i dunno which ones will fit my car and which ones are good...are these the same as upper pillow mounts?

i think you may be thinking of somethin else dude. there are many brands out there that do bushes, or you can always go OEM (original honda). what i was getting at is changing as many bushes as you can (under body of car), then if your not happy with that then go ahead and look for more stopping power. im not sure what kind of suspension set up the FD1 has, so cant help you about the upper pillow mounts.

if anything just get new pads and bleed the system with honda fluid, should get better response to braking

are bushes universal fit? or what??

no certain bushes will be designed for a certain part of the car. but i doubt the suspension bushes would be screwed in your car. not to mention some honda suspension bushes are friggin expensive. upgrading things like your strut assemblies to coilovers or upgrading in suspension in general will enhance braking and driveability. its well worth looking into

i'd say you're better of spending on better brake pads, new brake fluid and stickier tyres

Well it depends what he wants...
Yeah the braking will be improved with tyres, fluid and pads. And yeah the suspension will be improved with coilovers.
But sometimes a guy just wants to have those sexy spoon calipers behind the wheels. Of course everyones input and opinion is usually appreciated, and a buyer should know about the changes that putting on spoon calipers will make (eg pedal feel). But yeah...i'd get them too if i wanted them.

To actually answer danny's question. I think you have to order the correct fitting bracket for your car which will allow the caliper to bolt on and sit properly. Check the spoon website to make sure they will fit a 300mm disc.

Well A cheaper way of making your brakes look HOT is to buy slotted rotors and a can of brake caliper paint, looks good, fraction of the cost. :D
Also, get higher temp brake pads than the stock ones, will improve braking significantly.
Nah dont get spoon calipers man, calipers are calipers, not much difference.
I felt no difference at all the last time i changed from a 1 pot to a 4 pot... Maybe better modulation, but thats it.

Seriously, if I were you, I would get coilovers first, improves the handling of the car by alot, plus you can lower it as well!

what kind of bushes
your suggestion is pretty broad.

If one gets brake fade due to pads not taking the sustained heat and rotors not dissipating heat quick enough no bandaid solution will fix this

i doubt the oem bushes are fatigued so there is no need to change them unless the bushes change the cars geometry to improve handling.
eg caster bushes, antilift etc.

if you are getting brake fade after prolonged braking the first stage upgrade is to upgrade the pads to more track oriented pads.
EBC greens, EBC reds
Hawk HP Plus
Ferodo DS2500
RB74
etc

change to good quality brake fluid and swap to slotted rotors.
investing in higher end pads is more bang for buck than get slotted rotors to look good but still go to shit after 3 hard brakes
