hey guys

I just got my new dc2

The guy be4 me has it since the beginning of the year and harly drove it.
I think he drove it about 4k kms all up. And thus it missed it service in may.
It oil still looks good as hasnt rly been used. But ive got in now and it needs a service. ( its at 160ooo kms btw)

Im gonna get genuine Oil and Oil filter from honda.

Its coolant need a top up, but my mate surjested a full flush and refill. Would you say coolant needs doing? and if so any particaular type to get?Ive seen type A and B on the shelves...

Anything else needs doing ?

thx in advance :)

check if theres any rust & leak on radiator first. imo coolant type doesnt really matter as honda coolant are premixed. dont get the $5 coolant from kmart or something lol. honda said not to use other coolant other than original honda coolant as it might cause rust in your radiator (service manual).

maybe check battery and spark plugs.

you should refer to your maintenance schedule in your service manual book.

did the previous owner supply you with a log book and receipts? because the 160,000km is a major one.
if so, go through them and cross check with your service manual and do what is necessary.

if not...personally, i would to be ont he safe side so i'd change everything! (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, coolant, mtf, etc etc)

i know the 160,000km is a major service for civic vitr. i'm not 100% certain for the integra vtir, but i would assume so b/c they both have the B-series engine.

i'm sure you can find the service manual online somewhere...or someone on this forum can confirm what needs to be changed.

off my head, it would be replacement of:
oil
oil filter
fuel filter
spark plugs
transmission fluid
clutch fluid
brake fluid
coolant

and then inspection of:
brakes
lights
belts
etc

I dont have clutch fluid as the guy said its the same as the transmition fluid ?

clutch fluid = DOT 3 or 4 fluid. Exactly the same as brake fluid.

Brett, is this really necessary? it's more of a DIY isnt it? i dont think Honda dealers or mechanics bother to do these..

Yeah best to do them yourself cause it's easy to do and save the expense.
It makes such a difference on cars that have a few km's on them and more than likely has never been done.
