Hi,
Need to know which oil filter wrench should I get. should I buy the strap or the claw ones? I have the hamp oil filter. Can I get the honda one to work with the hamp oil filter?
The car is EG btw.
Thanks in advance

hamp = same as OEM honda filter "grip" at the back of the filter itself.
The honda tool , purchased at honda spare parts will fit both hamp and OEM filter.

i use the tri-grip universal one , works great even when the filter and your hand is covered in oil. It digs into the filter and grips it. cant find em anywhere anymore for some reason
I prefer the one with a metal strap that you can tighten or loosen with an adjuster at the base.
But, really, I prefer the one where someone else does it for me.

when the filter jams cos some crappy mechanic put it on too tight you'll end up having to get one.
I had one that i couldn't get it off with my hands, used a screw driver & hammer, and only the metal strap one got it off.
was the best $10 investment i ever got

i use my hand too, works cos i change the oil my self. hand tighten that shiet!
strap is the one i would choose, if i were to buy one. looks more grippy.

I found the cap tool to be the best, after trying the finger tool, the strap tool and the biting tool. Downside is the cap tool only works with honda filters.

thanks for the replies. confirming the honda socket tools, does it fit hamp as well or honda oil filter only?
otherwise I might just get the metal strap or claw.

I think you simply cant use the tool properly. I have one , used for services on a variety of cars for the last 6 years and never let me down. It does take some dexterity and steady hands to "mount it" but once it grips it will pull off any oil filter easily.

screwdriver
stab it through the filter, use handle as leverage. Unless your really worried it might stuff things up, quality slip proof glove and muscles will undo the sucker

I will have to try mine again then...
