Best solution...

Sell your VTi and get a Sport. From memory you cannot fit an engine to your car that is older than the car itself. You would have to get the FD K20 and it would cost you half the value of the car and you don't get everything else you need with it.

Just get an FN2 if you want a late model CTR. My DC5 brethren will eject me for this but it's not as bad as all the haters say. If I were in the market for hot hatches it would be on the list, just not at the top.

EP3s can be a problem because alot of finance companies will not cover them. They also don't have a maunfacturer's warranty.

yeh u can fit an engine that is older than the car itself into the car. You just need an engineers certificate. My mate has the 1983 4AGE motor in his 1990s corrolla

You drive an EJ8 though. He has an FD1. If he wants a late model K20 car he should just buy one.

but then...it's not unique? how many fd's here have k20a's in them? type r engine not fd sport engine...true?

Just because something is unique doesn't mean it's a good idea. There's only one George W Bush in the world too.

Save your money and get it done properly. The FD2 engine will cost you around $10k just for the engine itself. Then you've gotta look at mounts, ECU gearbox, brakes, suspension.

do what you feel is right, I mean my swap alone is in excess of 20k+, unique is just how I like it personally, I live in a Porsche reality where it is not really needed but it is preferred :) Rock on K-series!

Mate I can get the engine at Honda for that price new and why not, all budgets are different and not everything that is fun is not necessarily straight forward, but in the end is unreal :D

But again, you have a model in which the K20 isn't available from the factory. He has an FD1, a late model car with K20 available in a similar model. At the end of the day people would look at his car and say... "why not just get the K20 version?"

It is his car though so if he want's to drop $20k on a transplant then it's his choice. If he wants a K series FD though there are much easier ways of doing it and they coming with added factory features.
