Well as the title states.

I've seen one, and it has a few issues.

Now i'm not expert with the B series, let alone a ODB0 B16A, so I need a hand.

First things first, the gearbox crunches in 4th. You need to manually spin the box to match them fine (AKA Doubleclutch).

I'm guessing its a syncro problem, but if i want to change the box i don't want to loose my LSD.

Any ideas there?

Also, someone pinched the skirts and lip and corners. GG finding them right? Heard they are rare as hens teeth.

The car has some bog artistry on the rear panel, and under the hood. It's obviously has a accident or two, but other then that it seems sturdy.

And for the price im paying, it's fair game.

Also, is it hard to source parts for the ODB0 B16?

Do newer parts fit?

i'm sure its very much the same engine wise as any other b16
other than different wiring harness and probably a cable clutch
why not just recondition the current box? that way you know you'll have good synchros and keep the lsd in there and no need to go through the trouble of finding a cable operated b series box

That's an idea too, regardless of the box condition, it can be rebuilt? only fourth seems to be crunching

Some engine and electrical components between different B-Series motors are incompatible (distributor etc).

You need to work out what its going to cost you to get it up to scratch and how much trouble you're going to have to source parts, to begin with:
Write down generous estimations (always budget more than first thought) to repair the bodywork and get the gearbox sorted (overhaul with new synchros etc) and finally get serious about sourcing parts - ask traders etc and get a true indication of how easily parts are sourced.

Write everything down and cost it all up and then think about whether it's viable to you and if you want to get stuck in!

Good luck!

I agree with your post dude.

Seems the most logical. Me and the mrs will crunch some numbers and call around for parts.

Such a hard decision.

it should be fine..
but still, a banged up ef9 with a bad box..

basically you can use typical b16a parts, steering is off a DA9 really, with some ef9 tie rods etc.

just dont buy stuff from the USA saying it is for EF.. because their EF = ED

you cant get stuff like traction bars etc, because there is non for JDM subframes

you can upgrade to OBD1 with new ecu, dizzy, o2 sensor etc etc

boxes are cable, you cant put modern b hyrdo box internals in, well they arent direct bolt in.. maybe u can use certiain gears etc .. but some say the ef box is like an inbetween of the d and the b hydro.

you could get a new box and probably swap in all the LSD aspects of the current box..
