How much should I be paying to have the rear disk brakes machined (rotor)? I just got 1 quote for $132 so far.

I want to buy a compression tool and timing light, what's a good one to buy on the cheap? :D

Are these (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=racing+harness&_sacat=See-All-Categories) cheap racing harnesses ok?

Thank U.

132$ for both rears are about right... id consider anything between 70-100 on the cheaper side.

What ones were you thinking?

Just Brembo Blanks from 88 rotors US ebay.. or you can try find some slotted ones if you like. DRT have ones that are powdercoated in the middle and outter edge to prevent rust and are made from brembo rotors also.

Oh yeah,these ones. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brembo-Front-Blank-Brake-Rotors-Civic-CRX_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116Q QitemZ330058812323)

Are they lighter.I guess they would be?

I think I will just stick with the OEM ones...

New ftw, they'll only warp later on if you machine them, I'd only go that route if you were looking to flog off a car

stick to oem, I've done so for the time I've had the car and haven't had a problem with it ever :) I need to do my brake system soon (master cylinder, just because it's up to 200k and I don't want it to fail) and it will be from Honda

Thanks Vinny! $8 a side is if they are off the car though isn't it?

Thanks Ryan! Do U mean keep my brakes and machine them...?

Id only ever machine the disc if you were to sell it, I'd much rather have to stock disc width and not recon them when new ones are a better option

yeah brought my discs in and they machined it for me

I see Ryan. They haven't been machined before,so I was just hoping just to take a thin layer off.One side is fine, the other is rusty...
I would rather stick with OEM than buy brembo blacks though.New OEM = Very expensive.

Very cheap Vinny!

i wouldn't worry about rust
just run it and the brake pad will shave it all off
only machine if its necessary i.e. slightly warped
but with old oem rotors just buy new

Ah,ok.I get it now.Sweet.Thanks U.

I saw all the rust and was like I gotta that sh!t machined off :)

I'm glad I made this thread :)

So a compression tool from autobarn works fine?

my rotors were rusted to the shithouse and had paper that had been soaked and tried to the rotor
was fine by the time i bedded in the new pads, was an awesome scene with smoke pouring out of my wheel arches :)

i don't see why not, if it doesn't just refund it

We measure if its slightly warped by measuring different points on the rotor right?

vinnY

hard to measure if you don't have the tools
i don't think a vineer caliper is going to cut it here
you can sorta feel warped rotors, it'll shake the steering wheel while braking

Oh okay, I dont have that but yeh.. I'll ask the guys if I need it when I change the pads.
