Clutch issue on my S2000

Hi guys

From last weekend i noticed that the friction point of the clutch is closer to the ground then it used to be hence i dont get a lot of play when changing gears as i have to be super quick when accelerating anyone else have the same issue??
My cars done 77k km....

Any suggestions on what it might be??

most prob the clutch master cylinder. take it to a mechanic

Had the same problem with mine. As above your clutch master cylinder is leaking so check the level of your clutch fluid, it's probably near empty now.

Get a mate to help you to bleed it properly and top up with clutch/ break fluid to regain pressure. Should fix the problem in the short term but I suggest getting the master cylinder replaced next service.

Same problem over here, no more fluid is leaking will need to replace it :)

take it to hannys. As mentioned above its most likely the seals for the slave clutch cylinder have failed, which can be found on the gearbox. I would recommend getting it fixed asap, otherwise you might be caught out stuck in the middle of the road due to not being able to change gears...

From memory Peter charges about $150, its roughly 30min-1 hour job for them

I have the dreaded drip under the dash starting too I think..................wish it was the slave cylinder - easier to get to!

It seems to be the master cylinder but its also leaked behind the clutch pedal?? is it still the same thing?? getting it replaced tomorrow

Warren honda quoted me $220 for the parts.... for the master cylinder!!

Leaking is a sign of poor maintenance in changing the fluid. You will find the fluid gets very black and gritty after around 8,000-10,000kms depending on driving habits. Bleeding this with new fluid regularly will increase the life of the master cylinder/slave and also give you a better pedal feel.

Cleaning and re-greasing up the ball joint at the slave cylinder / fork will also help reduce noisy squeals and give you smoother pedal feel.

thats a bit rich, i recall i had the master cylinder fixed, parts and install for about $200 or even less from an independent

Clutch master cylinders for Hondas always leak. I see about 1 every 2 weeks. My master cylinder leaked 18 months after I changed it last and that's with only 15000kms on it. Fluid change will help but it's just one of the things about owning a Honda.

Retail from Honda is about $175.

Got the Master Cylinder Replaced and took it for a sunday afternoon/lunch drive to La Perouse.... the gears change a lot smother used to have gear crunches and thats gone now....
