As my brother managed to completely wreck one of my rims on a gutter I'm looking at buying a whole new set (that I will actually like as opposed to paying $875 for a single wheel from Honda or trying to find a second hand set). The wheels are for a DC5S and I was probably going to look at about 17x8 ~40+

Just out of curiosity what is the offset for a stock wheel? Will there be any issues with that much offset if the car is lower than stock?

I will probably get some Yokohama R1's as I can get them for about $215 a tyre. Any other tyres worth looking at? I think the Bridgestones the car came with are way overpriced (almost twice the cost of R1's).

I was in the same position as you were in. And after weeks of finding a new set of wheels, i ended getting the exact same specs as you listed (from JDMYard too i'm assuming)

Stock wheel is 17x7 +45
With those wheels it will sit out 17.7mm compared to stock which is perfectly fine, heaps of people run more aggressive offset than that

If you want a set of the oem TypeS rims i've seen a set on ebay. don't know if it's there anymore.
Or alternatively, I have 3 wheels you can choose from.

your issue at the moment is you dont have enough offset for that width.

I ran like +28 on my DC5R before and I thought it wasnt enough.

Its hard to say what is the best offset as alot of things determine the car like the width of the wheels, the tyres used and the type of wheel design.

I had 17x7.5 +43 before and it scrubbed on full lock because it sat in too much for that width.

+40 is weak, you can go much more agressive.

with 17 x 8, u can go at least +35 and they still sit a bit in

Ok wow I was worried ~+40 might have been too much. I'm not too sure what I will buy, I was considering Work XD9's as they are probably my price range. Does anyone know of a well priced Brisbane dealer? I have also been looking for something decent second hand but haven't really found anything (I'm also located in Brisbane).

Tofu, do you have any problems with the wheels locking or scraping?

Thanks for your help everyone, I'll keep looking!

I should be getting the wheels either today or early next week, I'll let you know once I have fitted them.
If you're in Brisbane, we can meet up. I've also got 3 wheels stock TypeS rims if you are interested.

are you looking to separate the wheels or sell only as a set of 3? I guess that would be an option if I wanted to save a bit of money. I'll have a think about it. Thanks for your offer. I'm in Brisbane but I'd be too embarrassed to show my car off in its current condition... haha my bro made a meal of my front bar as well and it's still not driveable.

Wow exchange rate sucks... I was quoted over $1000 per corner for Work Emotions at a well-priced Brisbane shop so I think I'm going to buy something cheaper and probably not Japanese until this "recession" passes... although I could be waiting a while...

Decided to go something cheaper. Lenso Tenzo-R DC5's but now I have to choose between 17x7 or 18x8... would like the 8" width to fit some slightly wider tyres on but would there be any problems running 18" wheels?
